Any of the Freightliners that have an openable vent window, when you are locked out, grab the outside of the latch post with a pair of vice grips and twist, and the window latch willl rotate open, no need to break glass or remove the gasket for the doggy window.

4 KEYS now that's bad!

And he probably forgot where he put each one at. Lol.
I know I do.SHC Thanks this. -
I kinda feel for the driver the OP called in on. I mean, if he wasn't planning to drive, and just had the misfortune of locking himself out of his truck, he didn't need his career ruined. As for not knowing what he had planned, you said it....you didnt know. If you had talked to him, it shouldn't have been too hard to ask before calling the cops. And as for him being under a load, as drivers, we want to always be under a load. That doesn't mean we don't have time to tip a few. Heck, I'm under a load even when I'm home, most of the time. But, if we was planning to drive, before properly sleeping it off, you absolutely did the right thing.

My apologies, it wasn't the OP who called on the drunk prime driver. Was SCH.....
-
Yep it was me. And I tried to talk to the driver. Couldn't understand him at all, and don't really care. If you are so sloppy drunk that u drop trow right there in front of me and about 30 other people, u got it coming. Not gonna change my mind, cuz of he had hit the road and killed himself or someone else, that would followed me forever.
Now if u want to get drunk at home, that's fine by me. But no need to get wasted on a 10hr break out in the middle of South Dakota at a truck stop.
And to note, I doubt after 10hrs this guy would have been sober (he reeked of Jack) and I'm sure his 10hrs off started 4 hours ago when he parked and went into the bar. -
Sorry fellas but I'm with SHC on this one. I like a ####tail or beer just like anyone else. Difference is I wait until Im at home to drink them and this in my opinion is what separates the men from the boys. We have enough hassles and BS as it is without drinking in the truck. I'm not gonna tell on someone for enjoying a couple of beers (keyword here is couple which means 2) but if I was in SHC's shoes, I probably would have done the same thing.
-
Exactly, I'm sure there were a few drivers in there, and who really care if u have a beer or two on your off time. It was the fact he couldn't speak, walk, and had no care about showing a bunch of on lookers how wasted he was an he was a driver. Now think about those 30 some people in the restaurant that were watching him. U know they are going to think about that everyone they see a driver or go past a truck. Not the kind of boost in image we need. We are already trash to most non-drivers.
Kujo, BigBadBill, Mommas_money_maker and 1 other person Thank this. -
Well said. I'll admit I get some long loads and if I have 14-24 hours to sit and wait I might get a beer with dinner (even though I probably only do about once every couple of months) but drunk never. Hell I barely catch a buzz while on home time with friends over. To old for that anymore.
Mommas_money_maker Thanks this. -
I don't drink on my 10 hr's off but if I'm layed over a weekend or on my 34 restart, why not toss back a few? My truck is my home as well as my work place when on the road and I know I would be pretty upset if someone called the cops on me if I got a little intoxicated during that time.
I would never want to see anyone drink and drive, but to maybe ruin someone career without knowing all the facts is crazy.
