Since I am in Chicago all the time, I wanted an app just like this for the low bridges. I found a company called allstays, saw that they had a low clearance app for 2.99, then they had an app that included low clearance, truck stops (major and mom and pop), and much more for 9.99. It works just how you said, it pulls up a map, and you can pick where you want, then zoom in and it will tell you if there are any low bridges in the area, no sattellite view. I emailed the company and they told me the 9.99 is updated more frequently, so i sprung for that one, and im pretty impressed with it, definenlty helps.
Edit: was messing around with it after i wrote this post, and it does have sattellite view option on it.
Mobile app you wish you had?

@STexan,
just move your map to the Rockford, IL and you will see all available amenities in that area. You can also filter map to show only amenities you want. -
Just clicked on your links, same app I talked about in my previous post, didnt see it before I posted, good app though.
