If I had a choice between Mohawk or Shaw...it would be Shaw all the way. Without a doubt. Shaw is a fortune 500 company and rated as one of the best companies to work for.

The work itself isn't really that difficult if you know how to use a pallet jack and liftgate. Most of the load will be unloaded by forklift...whether it's bumping a dock or tailgate delivery. Usually it's the smaller mom and pop stores that need liftgate delivery...or if you're delivering to a residential or construction site...that's if Shaw or Mohawk does residentials.

Shuttle driver is basically Linehaul or meet and greet. A lot easier than being a daytime local driver. Usually you work around 10 hours a day. Probably make more money on shuttle...since daytime work doesn't involve too much OT.

Like I mentioned...very similar to LTL.

Here's a video on how carpets are unloaded. If it's a mom and pop store with no forklift...you have to hand unload it.....

And here's a video on a residential tile liftgate delivery. Notice how the tiles are standing up. They should NEVER be layed down flat. That's how the tiles crack.....

Pallet jack stuff I'm good with. I'm a pretty big (Ok, fat) guy so pushing and pulling isn't the problem. Lifting is though. I have 8 packs of 18X18 floor tiles at home (previous owner of the house left them) that I had to move to paint my garage floor and I was out of commission for 2 days after hefting those heavy things. I'm sure I spent more on chiropractors than the tiles are worth!!.

BTW my tiles are laid flat...and will stay that way as I'm never touching them again. Let the next owner of the house deal with it. :D

Hello curious to see if anyway has any info on Mohawk. I was offered a job just curious to see if it's a good long term company to get on with? How's the pay system, perks anything about the job? From what it looks like it's bumping docks and the business off loading the freight. Anybody have info on Mohawk please respond. Thanks

Mohawk has a facebook page with a couple driver reviews......

    Facebook

Video number 3 explains their shuttle driver/linehaul position. Video number 6 explains their P&D driver position.

Take their reviews with a grain of salt. Obviously their sugar coating most of their experiences for promotional value...but it gives you an idea of what the job is about.

I would also read the reviews on indeed.com. It's not all peaches and cream the way those videos on facebook makes it out to be......

Working as a Truck Driver at Mohawk Industries: Employee Reviews about Pay & Benefits | Indeed.com

It's not the best or the worst job out there. If you're basically gonna do the exact work that LTL does (FXF, UPSF, ABF, ODFL, R+L, Estes, Saia, Pitt Ohio, etc., etc.) you should just apply to them instead. Pay and benefits will be a lot better. Just my honest opinion :)

thanks for responding. It seems like a good offer with the component pay and hours. Guess I just gotta factory what's more important about the company.

Curious what's the vacation time like at the company? What do they start out with and top out how many weeks, also do they give sick days?

Also if you are "needy" as far as health insurance, the way it is set up here in MI they give you a coach to help take care of issues to try and keep costs down. Seemed like a complete but into my life type deal but to each their own.
