Good old Montana...
One day, after my third level 2 in a row, I stomped into the weigh station and asked the guy, “Just how many ####ing inspections does a guy need in one day? For ####s sake!”
He said, “The computer chooses who to pull in and your plate is new to our system, sorry.”Brickwall, Odin's Rabid Dog and Dave_in_AZ Thank this. -
Like it didn't update after the first one. Our Prepass's have NorPass on them now. Mine has worked in Oregon and Washington the last two days.
Those jack sticks just deliberately turn it to decline to go on a fishing trip.
Cause when the state turns it off, it sends a signal when you drive under the scanner, that actually deactivates it for several minutes. -
Idk never been there is it true that some parts there is no speed limit? I always thought it was an ol wives tale but idk id love to know
-
That was back in the 60's, early 70s. Truck speed limit is 65.Travelworld2067 Thanks this.

Actually it was also after the federal 55 was repealed, for 7 or 8 years, I think, and statewide on highways. I was living out of state then so I missed out on that fun.
-
It was repealed in 98 or 99.
Dave_in_AZ and Odin's Rabid Dog Thank this. -
Back in the 55 days, if you were being cool about it, Nevada would let you run 75 in most areas.
They did write one of two citations. One was a citation for wasting natural resources, the other was for jerkwagons, that was a real speeding one and they would not let you slide at all.Dave_in_AZ Thanks this. -
When I was in North Dakota running sand boxes we used to run just inside the Montana border to pick up then right back over to empty on site. Rinse and repeat all day and night sometimes.
Only time I’ve ever been put on portables was in Montana. The day before one of our guys got popped for something I can’t recall what.
So when they saw my truck with the same name the next day they stopped me. Got put on portables. Got inspected, had a steer that wasn’t great and I had been complaining for a while it needed fixed but they didnt. So it got wrote up. DOT officer was cool, he said I’m getting in my pick up and going this way, you’re getting in your rig and going right over the border, not my problem after that. Good times, good times. Glad he didn’t Check my log book though lol.Brickwall Thanks this. -
Any of y'all remember that big fella that used to work the laurel scale years ago? Just curious, he was a real good fella. Gherke was his name if I recall.
