Yep. Try driving on hwy 40 in southern Pennsylvania. It runs near the Maryland border parallel to I-68. You don't want to go off that mountain with a heavy load.

Monteagle is not that bad. It has in past years had many accidents on her. This is not the passes fault. Too many times drivers do not "respect" the mountain passes in this country". This is the rookie 101 class course. Cabbage, Snowqualime, Vail, Loveland, all these are much worse.

Mountains to a truck driver are roughly comparable in a way to electricity. The moment you don't respect it, it kills you.
OLDSKOOLERnWV, 25(2)+2 and Cottonmouth85 Thank this. -
I've had to run sections of US 40 in Md. with a super load at night.
not fun.. I put on Slow Ride by Foghat and ease on down..Cottonmouth85 Thanks this. -
I have gone off that stretch of road with a heavy load. You are right. It is NOT fun. Cops often sit at the bottom to ticket speeders. I avoid that road when possible. It is just too hard on my equipment. You have to go so slow coming down that it seems to take forever to get to the bottom!!!! -
Exactly right
