I'm seeing a good amount of intrastate flatbed loads out of Montrose, IL. Anybody know what these loads are or hauled any ?

I'd call the broker and find out, but I may want to commit the cardinal sin and approach the shipper directly.

spying with google maps, looks like a sod farm. I guess I'll call and find out, wouldn't mind camping at Effingham and hauling all the shorties they'll give me for a week or two.

Railroad ties. I believe the shipper is National Salvage. Hopefully, that gives you enough track them down and get your foot in the door.

We aren't going to haul that many loads of RR ties. Why not help someone else out.

We don't do much out of K'ville so I don't have a good handle on rates out of there. There just isn't much happening in the specialized game right now. No one wants to drop $200K and up on any type of equipment right now. Too much uncertainty, taxes too high, population that thinks government money grows on trees, crappy demand for exports...just doesn't make anyone excited to drop a big chunk of change.

Well the underbidders get the lds. and then post them on the brokeage side again.. There were 2 posted to Davenport this morning. Then I see a ld. our guy bid on to Tx. was underbid. By how much I do not know, But it's on the brokeage board tonight..

railroad ties makes more sense, can't imagine shipping much sod this time of year. The rates posted on a few of the loads aren't too great, but take off the broker's cut and I think I can make it worth my while on the shorty runs. we'll see, project may be all done by the time I get back that way.

I have heard the same thing going on with all bid loads. Basically, all of the brokers or broker/carriers are underbidding things and then brokering them. Not sure who they are finding to haul them.

Yep these are the spot market bids. I don't think we have any contrats coming out of there. Not sure though..
