i remember when i drove for prime right after i upgraded to get my own truck they had a load somewhere in illinois right outside of chicago. I had sat at the shipper all day and then i had an hour to drive but after i left i had to find a place to park. So here i am running past my 14 trying to find somewhere and also on the phone with my fleet manager freaking out cause i couldnt find a place. which he told me DOT cant do anything to u for trying to find a safe place to park even if u r over your time.. And just note that in the qualcom so the company dosent try to question u about it.

Your FM is not the guy with the badge. You might remind him of that. DOT cop can and will write you for HOS violation.

Forget the ticket, some drunk drives into the side of your truck you're in a whole world of trouble if you are over your hours. Actually that reminds me of one big plus about elogs, if a serious accident ever were to happen at least the lawyers can't go over your logs minute by minute looking for one mistake to hang you with.

Injun, I had a chance to speak with the guy doing installs of the new Q/C at Lancaster. He said that in the prostar they are putting a bracket in the cubbyhole on the dash that will secure the unit. He assured me that he does not drill holes in your dash. Every model truck has its own set place for the unit, all the volvos go in the same place, all the shakers in the same place etc, with one exception, the T660. Apparently there are a couple of places to put them in those. With an O/O or L/O they get with the driver before installing in the 660.

They do not have to install it on the dash. Drilling into the cubby puts holes in the dash.

All of the required wiring is in place, already in the umbilical behind the seat. They can plug it into that and give me the bracket. I will mount it myself, right where the old one is.

Really now??? I have a T66SS and the Q/C was preinstaled. I had no voice in the placement of it. But looking over the dash area, there realy isn't any other place to mount it. Oh, and I have seen at least 9 other T660's that have the same Q/C placement as mine.

Just repeating what the Lancaster guy told me...he asks the owners before he installs.
