I don't know if they have to, but they run new cable for the new Q/C. The old cable on the outside of the truck is folded and cable tied under the antenna mount. New cable runs from the new antenna and is routed into the truck a different way. And like I said, I am just repeating what he told me.

It ia also wired into the speakers differently,
In my ProStar, the front left speaker seems to be dedicated to the QC.
Well, most of the time. Sometimes I get music from it. Sometimes. -
It a whole different set of wiring from the old one, they wires the goes into the antenna on the old one have a different connection than the new ones, on the new ones they mount the brain in the cubby hole under the bunk, all the wires have different connection from what the old one look like

DO all of the trucks have the New qualcomm/elogs on them? and I have been wondering if it provides Wifi access for a laptop, or do you have to have an aircsard or something? I want to be able to have skype video chats while out and about and wasnt sure what I would need for that.
-
I don't think the wifi feature is activated, I try using it but no luck (somebody correct me if I'm wrong) and not all trucks have it but by dec 31 they say all trucks should have it. I still see company trucks with the old qualcom.

I still have the old QC. There may not be enough of the new ones to make all of the conversions before Dec 31. I'm following the lead of my terminal management on this. If Swift wants to shut me down on Jan 01, I will fight it. I have been told on a number of occasions that the installs will be done at my terminal, but have yet to see any of the new units in the shop.
Also, that recent court case may be a bit of a game changer. In other words, I'm in a holding pattern for now. -

I use a Rand. I have been trying the one on the Q/C some more but it doesn't seem to always route the shortest or quickest way. Last week I got a load out of Springdale Ar going to Sanger Tx. It wanted me to go through Tulsa to OKC and then straight down 35 to Sanger. The fuel route from Swift and the Rand agreed on going down through Muskogee, Mcalister on 69, and then taking 82 over to 35 from Dennison.

Fuel Route, does that mean you have to get fuel from only the stations they tell you to stop at? Forgive my newbie question, but heck I am a newbie....

If you run really low you can get opened up at other locations, usually for 50 gallons or so.
You do have some discretion, in a limited way. As in, you can skip a fuel stop if you don't think you will need fuel. I have done this when I had enough fuel to complete my delivery, usually when the fuel stop was at a Love's (I hate both their 'truck stops' and showers, so I don't want to waste a fueling there).
