I know. I drive a slow truck. It doesn't take that much experience to learn that there's no advantage to driving that way, though.
The video of the driveing and the video of the accident make no sense In the driving one Crete is on the left In the crash , Crete is in the right .
Only thing I can think is maybe hazmat truck was turning left out of the loves and crete struck him? Idk video cuts off before anything happens.
But that would mean the hazmat truck pulled out in front of Crete ? from the video it’s very hard to figure out whose fault it was .
I'm glad nobody was seriously hurt. I know one thing, once that Crete driver gets out of the hospital, they're gonna let him go. Not because of the accident per se, but the way the accident was caused. He was not being safe.
My guess from what little i can see in the video at least, is that the other rig was in the middle lane to turn left into the loves. It looks like crete was distracted or something and may have just seen the tail lights and followed thinking it was a 3rd lane or that he had more time to slow. Also from the angle of the damage and where everything landed. To me it really looks like it could be the hazmat rig had slowed and was starting to make the turn into loves when crete hit him then drug him along. Would also explain why the hazmat trucks frame wasnt more warped even though the crete rig was obliterated. Would also explain why the hazmat rig wasnt jack knifed more. With his brakes released a lot of that energy would have transfered into being drug along and the cascadia would have wedged it in place with the bit of frame exposed during the turn getting squished. But i wasnt there and my guess is as good or bad as anyones. So eh.
I bet Crete gets sued over this…just the video of thier truck running down the center turn lane on video is damming to say the least…
