We had some fun with a tire man in PA once.

"What's the problem?" We have a flat.

Which truck? (There were two of us) "The one with the flat"

Let's try again, where is the flat? "On the tire"

What tire? "It's black and round except the flat one"

we went on this way a few minutes. Im happy we got away with it that day. Man was eventually able to fix the flat with a new tire But he was a little slow.

I love it when people tell me how to be. I respond with "how could you possibly know how I have to be? What could you possibly know about being me?"

Yeah I'm a dick but I also don't engage strangers in conversation without being polite. If someone comes at me weird I'll give it right back to them.

I was working at the scale house at San Jon New Mexico during a time when the dot was on a rampage once. They shut down this OO with a ratty old cabover and 40 foot flatbed, empty except for a 500 yamaha loaded up.
The dot officer told me that if I worked on that rig, it needed 10 hours welding. I was working on another rig an older oo out of Miami Ok, I was under Joes trailer doing some welding when someone tapped on my shoulder. It was that driver and he wanted to know if I had another helment, set of leathers and some spare leads. I told him, no and ask why. He said he had to fix his truck and would have to use my stuff. I explained that was not exactly the way it worked, and explained how it did work. well he decided I could repair his truck, and left, 10 minutes later he taps on my shoulder again and ask if I was going to fix his. lol I told him, not toll I get through with this one and one more ahead of you, By now I'm thinking, this guy is nuts. A little while later the guy with him comes and tells me he noticed I had cigarrettes in my service truck and ask if he could trade something for a pack. I'm like I like cash, works best for me. lol He explained he was riding the motorcycle (winter) and had put all his money in the fuel tank for a ride, that they didn't have 15cents between them and had been eating peanut butter sandwitches since leaving vegas. lol I ask, how they were planning on paying the bill if I fixed the truck. He didn't know, the company the guy was leased to wuld not even send him fuel money. lol
It gets better, don't leave now. When I finished up and get a look at his rig, we are talking strictly junk, 2 tires on the truck were just 2 sidewalls left, one on the trailer, exhaust leak out of this world, much welding needed done on the trailer, on and on. There was so much the dot decided to escort him to the shop. It turned out the bike was the hitch hikers, the trailer was a company rig, the truck was his. we made a deal I would get his truck legal (barely) for the motorcycle, the guy gave it up for the ride.
Before I knew all this and made the deal. I told the guy to back the trailer up to the shop door, he pulls across the road, gets a steer tire off in the ditch and the truck up against a light pole, Shocked I am looking on in case I have to guide him. Now I thinking WTF. He comes back and tells me he has a problem, I'm thinking well YEA, and then tells me he wasn't thinking, he does NOT have any reverse in this rig. He forgot. I'm thinking how can a person possibly forget something like this. lol
I got the wrecker and pick the trailer up to move it side ways a little before I drag him back, the tandems stays on the ground, gravity and air lines were all that was hooked to the trailer.

This trucker is a moron folks, all them others you been talking about were amatuers.
He left the trailer and the folks running the company, weren't all that much better than him their selves. But tat is a whole nother story.

That’s an entire short story. Of a literary quality in the anthologies we all had to read in school. (Give it the work needed, etc).

    Wow.

    Stinks of truth.

I was running a shop and road service back when they got serious and started the 72 hour blitzes, you would be shocked what was rolling down the road, and not all of it was small company junk.
