Four wheeler here, interesting thread. I see US 30 and US 40 in Pennsylvania were mentioned, I'd have to say I can see the case for 30, that would be a nightmare I would think. As for 40 I saw a truck coming down there once with its brakes on fire, I can see how if you let it get out of control things could go bad fast there.

I also see US 250 was mentioned from Akron to Wheeling, but from my experience I would think that same road from Wheeling to Fairmont is even worse, except no Amish in those parts.

But I still see 18 wheelers on all of these roads, I guess they just do what they have to do.

If it's an approved route (no CMV restrictions or low clearances) then we take it. Now that doesn't mean its always a good idea!

cant beat all that Glamis traffic on those single lane roads. Thats also the bypass for the Winterhaven scale in CA if your leaving PHX and heading to San Diego.

How about CA 58 E/B from Santa Margarita? I haven't been over that in probably 35 years, so it is probably posted now on length. It wasn't back then, and I remember meeting a truck or two on that road. . .

    Not real prutty!:biggrin_25524:

I hate the WV Turnpike. It has some hills on it and you can touch your trailer on the curves. WV has some roads, PA too that are terrible, up a Mtn, right down into a village and right up. Show Low to Miami AZ on 60, used to run it a bunch, One of the deadliest rds in the US is 666 from Gallup across the reservation. Believe it or not the deadliest is I 15 in San Bernardino County CA. I 5 down the Grapevine N bnd is straight and fools a lot of truckdrivers. LaVeta pass in CO w of I 25 on 160, straight and 13%, and of course Wolf Creek Pass. Saw a lot of srecks running up there, From Lizzardhead out of Telluride CO, clims to 10,000 ft and no guardrails. I cold go on and on.

How about the 86 mm on I70 in Utah, isnt even marked as a pass but I believe its 11,000 ft and nasty, and try Hwy 50 across NV, I'd hate to be a Schneider driver with 44K on and try that rd.
