US 30 in PA west of Gettysburg a ways is one such route; trailers over 96 inches wide other than pups are prohibited on some of it, I saw a skateboard on that road running westbound, empty.

US 33 from eastern WV into Virginia is another road that is famous.

I 70 west of Denver into Utah, I have driven that in the winter when other roads were shut. I had a 48 loaded past 75k with plenty on the drives and the steer axle.

They closed it eastbound after I passed and westbound the next day, Grand Junction went from bare to smothered in snow after I made it through.

Its to my understanding that the Dragon's Tail is NOT an approved route. There was an article in either Trucker's News or Road Star a couple years ago about it. Most notable was how many Swift trucks went up (and wrecked) on that road because the company routed them that way. Took months of complaining from the locals before Swifty finally listened.

How about British Columbia's Cassiar Hwy in the winter, you want to talk about a goat trail, it is very narrow and winding, very few services, and it is so isolated up there, you are literally in barren wilderness, but it is one of the most beautiful roads I have ever seen.

I have been on the dragons tail by bike and it wasn't that bad, at least compared to some of the goat trails we have up here.

US411 in eastern tennessee is pretty gnarly. i almost got hit head-on by an averitt driver who went around a blind curve a bit too fast. unlike the dragon tail, there is no margin of error on the 411 between chestnut hill and i-40. if the trailer off-tracks off the road, it's going down a 4-6ft drop, and you're gonna be screwed.

it wasn't only swift drivers wrecking on that highway. it was plenty of other drivers for different companies, and the complaining was done by some biker group that didn't want ANY TRUCKS on that route. they finally got their wish. bikers do a wonderful job at getting themselves killed on that route, anyway.

The Dragon would be a nightmare in a rig. I drove a Maxima through there and didnt exceed the speed limit. The brakes faded and the power steering fluid overheated and bubbled out.

Theres also a road in northeastern Tennessee called the Snake, and the Devil's Triangle (above Knoxville,TN).

My most recent bad road was that Hwy 89A, cutting across the top of the Grand Canyon.

My first year of driving, back in 1997, I emptied out in Harrisonburg, Va. They wanted me to deadhead to Wheeling, WV to pick up my next load. I drug out my atlas and lo and behold, US33 went straight through WV, I could then pick up I79 up to Washington, Pa, hit I70 and wullah! Checked the front of the atlas, no low bridges, no restricted route, looks like a plan! So I jump off of I81 and start my trek west on US 33. Smooth sailing all the way to the WV line. It was autumn, the leaves were all kinds of pretty colors. Going to be a great drive, or so I thought.
I just watched that Dragon video. I'm telling you that is NOTHING compared to this road. Turns so tight my landing gear scraped the pavement. Dozens of times I had to go left of center to keep my trailer from rubbing into the rocks on the cliffside on the inside of the curve, all the while hoping no oncoming traffic was coming. I remember I went through about an hour of this, then the road finally leveled out. I passed a house with a Pete hooked to a flatbed parked in the front yard. I crossed US 220. Phew! Finally. Uhh, not so fast. Pretty soon the road started doing it to me again. Another hour of hell. Then I finally got to Elkins, WV and the road widened out to 4 lanes. I'll never get that day out of my head.
