CA-74 Ortega Hwy starts on by Lake Elsinore, atleast thats where I started at. This road was pretty interesting with a 53', lots of switchback curves where ya gotta take up half of the oncoming lane to make the turn. On top of all the curves there was construction going on towards the top and it was down to one lane. Lets just say about half way up I had about 30 pretty ansy 4 wheelers behind me, found the first dirt pull off and let em all go by them continued creeping up and trying not to hit the rocks right next to my lane of travel. Definitely was glad to do that road empty, it would've been a bear pulling that pass loaded.

Yep 411 is another one I forgot about. We pick up down there at Bush Beans about 10-15 loads a week. ZERO room for error on that road. I loved when they were working on it and you come around a corner with no warning there's some ####### worker standing in the middle of the road with a stop sign. :biggrin_25510: Had several close calls on that road meeting other big trucks in the hairpin curves.

Oh hey a moving van on the Dragon. Even if they limit big trucks on that route, moving vans will be excempt! Nice eh?

I've driven a big truck through San Fransico and Golden Gate Park, that has to count for something. And some truck routes in Arkansas that seemed a bit, well, off.

It's great when your whips start hitting #### and people look up at you in horror. Road wasn't that bad, other than the weight limit of 40,000 pounds on a bridge (and I was legal for that)

Even have done a little Hwy 49 in California....

i rode the tail of the dragon on a sportbike. has to be the funnest road i have been on. rear tire was chewed up and rubber was stuck to the undertail after one trip down it. got alot of good pics that day too. the cops are supposed to be all over it now going after bikes. i have heard of them even giving tickets for improper glasses

    Dragon trail...LOL.

Never heard it called that and I live there (close by anyway)...I have driven it quite a bit. Many truckers believe that it is a restricted route (and possibly it should be), but only a small section where you get routed around town is restricted.

Dangerous roads...Pennsylvania is full of them (US40 to name one)

yeah, busch beans is where i went on that lovely day. there was also road work going on, which made it even more crazy. going back to the freeway was even more slow and aggravating for those behind me. boy, i was HAPPY to finally get out of that and back on the road leading to i-40.

Sounds great. I had a blast yesterday on the Blue Ridge Parkway for about 50 miles coming back from Gatlinburg. Early in the day, no campers, no cops. The 'Stang was no match for the bikes out there playing, but had a lot of fun playing cat and mouse.

Shoot, run it Idaho style, slide your tandems all the way up and once you are out, slide them back out. Or make it a truck illegal route and put speedbumps all over that road because I'm sick of listening to the motorcycle riders complaining.

I once had to go from Lewiston to Boise and of course had to get the permit.
With 270 inch wheelbase and tandems up, I couldn't quite meet the specs. Just under a foot off, but he overlooked it.
It really wasn't that bad through there, just real slushy in the gorge where the sun doesn't seem to reach.
Fortunately White Bird was dry. What a freakin mountain.
