about the only thing wrong i see with the more hometime options is it is never your truck 2-3 drivers = no one takes care of it to me. commonly called slip seating. Personally just for me I would rather stay out then have someone screw up my truck when i get back in it. Others never care about that stuff my buddy drives bus for new jersy transit into nyc everyday different bus everyday i would rather a stick in the eye

You are incorrect. I have delivered pizzas.
Remember, you don't get paid for those 7 off. So you can make 500/wk delivering pizzas or 500/every other week driving a truck.
What? You thought you'd make 1000/wk driving solo starting out?
Unless you end up on some dedicated run that gets you by the house all the time you'll probably be sitting one of those 7 days waiting on a load that will get you home. Or you'll end up being out 8, 9 or 10 days. No offense but I'll bet the 7/7 guys get the crap runs nobody wants.
Just trying to give you a little reality check here. Most guys who are most concerned with home time usually end up not being very happy with their job.
I stay out a minimum of 5 weeks, sometimes 6, 7 or 8 just because I hate getting that tiny check that comes with four days off. It's good you don't need money because you won't be making much.Gizmo_Man Thanks this. -
I dont know where you lived at but I have done pizza delivery as well in a pretty big city and only made $50 on a Friday night. The bigger the city the more pizza drivers.
Also, I want experience. My wifes dad works for New Bakery in Zanesville Ohio and drives every other day and every other weekend as a team driver and made $102,000 last year. I am sure they get bonuses because it sounds impossible to me. But this is the job I am trying to get experience for because you need 2 years of driving before he can get me on. -
I delived pizza in the middle of no where in vermont (williston/south burlington/ essex juntion). As well as down here in Charlotte, NC and made just as much as both places.....
$102k maybe GROSS for the TRUCK of a O/O team working that little, or there is something you arent telling us or he isnt telling you....

Thank you for the information. Yes, they do offer home time positions in my area. 6/3 -
Maybe the little citiees are better for pizza drivers then because I did not make hardly #### after paying for my own gas.
They are not O/O. I know two people that work there. The other guy is new and is making about $70K. My wife's dad has been there 10 years. Maybe there is something, I havent talked to him too much about it. He does have to unload and load his trucks so maybe that has some part in it. -
No, I've had a great life and still do. I started trucking because it appeals to my bohemian nature. Once I get enough time under my belt I will probably go for something more local. My point was that strictly looking for that much home time right off the bat seemed a little pointless to me.
But now that I have you"ear" , so to speak, let me ask you a question. How do you guys afford to take a week's vacation every two weeks? Is it just that you don't need money?Gizmo_Man Thanks this. -
If its and option to go for right off the bat then why not go for it? If it's what I want, then why not go for it : ) -
Do whatever you want. Good luck to you. Let us know if you find something like that right off the bat.
My only real concern is that working half a year for two years is not really two years experience. Hopefully the bakery will not look at it that way.Gizmo_Man Thanks this. -
X2 on that, i've applied at alot of places that not only wanna know how many years/months of exp i have but how many MILES i've logged.
