did you go to school to get your CDL? if not then you need to go to school.

your other problem is you live in FL its hard to get a trucking job there particularly for new drivers...

Hey InmyDreams...I'm a wife of a new trucker. Married 24 years and no intention of calling quits. My husbands was out 4 weeks the first time and three the next. Has been home 3 days after each run. It was hard for me at first but I also knew it was hard for him too after a desk job for 25 years. Have to remember to keep the trust. It took me a while to get use to the quiet evenings, but happy to say were doing fine. He jokes about getting me behind the wheel...aughhh, no thanks! Im just fine at home :) Hang in there you'll be fine.

Alright, this might be a dumb question...

I'm having my first orientation EVER with Central Ref on Monday. Assuming, all goes well, would I end up starting immediately with a trainer after the orientation or would I go back home for a little while? Basically, should I pack like I'm going away for a few days or should I pack like I'm going away for a month or 2?

Really new to all of this.

It depends on whether they have trainers available or not. Either way, you only need to pack for a week as far as clothing. That's about all you're going to fit in the truck.

One may as well treat recruiters like military recruiters. They just want a body count & it doesn't matter if it ends up in a bag or not.

About one weeks clothing. You will be able to do laundry on the road. Anything more is overkill.

I took 5 pairs including what I'm wearing. Not much more fit in the duffle bag. Big bulky boots and coveralls took up most of that space.

Im gonna try getting into hot shot driving asap. my job i have now allows me to get by, but not enough. I have a 2003 3/4 ton dodge. Does anyone seem to think that will do the job for the time being? Any other tips and advice will be very helpful. Thanks.
