Most Important Questions From New Drivers Threads

Hi all,
Yes Here comes another Newbie, but,,,,, I am in CDL school privately, so I have no company ties or that I specifically have to work for.
I am on the I-84 corridor , La Grande Oregon, aka Eastern Oregon.

So I go drive by the truck stop occasionally and see that there are about 15 Regular companies comming thru my home town, Anyway, to make this shorter, I am leaning towards May Trucking, they are in Oregon, go by my house, Have a fairly desent rep on this forum and like newbies that are already schooled so that they can mentor you for as long as the mentor thinks its needed, most cases I hear is 2-4 weeks.

NOW, my question,,, "Any Comments ?"

I had a friend from school who went with werner, had no problems while out with his trainer but it took them 26 days to get him into a truck of his own. Fortuneatly, he was younger and still lived at home.

 

Witch school is better Hamrick or TDDS in ohio?

 

I'm also in school. Was talked to by Werner, Gordon & TWT/System. I don't think I'm into System, which leaves Werner & Gordon. Werner was the front runner until the "used car salesman" came to my school to talk shop. Gordon became the lead dog for my future and after checking out this site I'm thinking that is a plan I should stick with. Anyone think otherwise?

 

I'm heading down that road now. My start date with Werner is the 5th of January. I've already graduated Truck Driving School. If you're still out there; could you offer any more insight as to how Werner is treating you?

i am a newbie 1 week from getting perm cdl a license from great lakes driving school. any thoughts on companies that have terminals or run through cleveland ohio area. what would be a good outfit to apply to. thanks in advance for any info

 

In this economy a new driver cant really be picky, quite a few of the students in my class had NO offers at graduation time so I am lucky to have Werner to go to......

 

I hope to start driving the middle of next month for a company out of montana. I will be driving all 48 states but I realy have only driven in 3 or 4.. Is it worth the money to buy a GPS?
