Not sure if i'm mistaking, but lately i've been seeing more volvos than freightliners on the road. It might also be due to mine "midwest only" driving and being from "north of I-80". I do prefer freightliners, but also would not mind a 780 or 880 volvo. As far as comfort goes, volvo wins. Love the look of "hoods", but they are not "bottom line" friendly.![]()

just my opinion.volvo's are the best ride.as matter of fact,it's somtimes too comfratable.plus it's the tightest turning truck i ever driven.

Don't get a full height sleeper. You'll regret it when you can't fit into half these old grain elevators.
papa1953 Thanks this. -
Peterbilt 359 with a V-8 cat oughta do the trick. 5X4 double over 3.70 rearend with tall rubber. May not be the most comfortable, but you'll be the COOLEST cat around
Steady504, ABadAzzPete and DrtyDiesel Thank this. -
good one Jake, Maybe a 2001 peterbilt 378 with a little flat top sleeper, series 60 detroit with a ten speed.
-
Why would you ruin a Pete by puttin a Detroit in it!?Jake The Bullhauler Thanks this.

welp I figured since he was asking about ideas for his first tractor, he would probably need something with cheaper parts and easy to find parts.
-
Good luck finding parts for a v8 cat.
-
Parts can be found, although they might not be cheap

I see a lot of grain buckets being pulled by the T800. That whole setup is kind of the way I have been swaying towards. Conservative but functional.

Does aerodynamics of the T2000 or rounded Mack front end help you with fuel economy? I am sure it is only something like a 1/4 or less mpg. but everything helps that bottom line.
Thanks for your input,
Jason
