    It wasn't that bad back when I had my authority. We had some but not like it is now. I had a business line when I had my paving co. They made me switch to a business line when I put my yellow pages ad in the book. Once I switched to the business line the phone never stoped ringing too.

    Got to www.fmcsa.dot.gov. You do not need anyone to file your authority for you...that is a racket. It will cost you $300 to file for a for-hire number. BUT, there is a lot of stuff that goes along with it, like cargo and liability insurance, process agent, drug consortium, massive record keeping, DOT audits, safety audits, IFTA reporting, and the list goes on. Make sure you know what you are getting yourself into! Everything you need to know is on the website above.
