Mechanical things break, at any given time, sometimes for no apparent reason, I doubt the Dealer tried to mislead you. This is the last thing they want to happen. I have to take a step back at times like this. Think before I speak. But definitely speak up if needed. I’ve learned to give the benefit of a doubt, before making accusations. And sometimes you have to demand justice. Best to you, hope it works out to your benifit. Having a rebuilt engine is always a good thing.

I dont think they tried to mislead me. The only way they would even would have seen anything would have been metal in the oil, bit they had no way of knowing the severity.

    Rideandrepair and Frontman Thank this.

The half dozen I have seen/heard of with spun main or rod bearings on the MX, I would say half have had flaking/spalled camshaft. Paccar usually requests these engines to be sent back to the technical research facility. I would be pushing for assistance/support from Paccar and the aftermarket warranty company.

I think they did, every brand dealer should be doing oa on all fluids and if there are flags, then they should not sell the truck until it is fix.

No excuse. They should take the truck back and eat the losses.

    Rideandrepair and Bakerman Thank this.

That’s why I asked if they did an oil change prior to selling.

If there was anything in the oil or on the drain plug magnet, they would’ve seen it. With only 8000 miles on the engine since purchase, this was a ticking time bomb, and I’m sure someone knew about it.

But it’s a third-party warranty, so it’s on their dime now.

Only 8k miles.... I'd be plenty HOT.
I wonder if that warranty covers down time, or a rental til hes back up and running?

    Rideandrepair Thanks this.

That's been my experience as well. Paccar wont help out at all because he is a second owner. The dealer should help out for sure. If the truck dealer knew there was metal in the pan they wouldn't have taken it in on trade....
I wonder how the 3rd party warranty will work out. Most times its not worth the paper its written on. We actually were able to recently get a motor claimed under a 3rd party warranty recently so ya never know.

I wonder if the previous owner knew. It didn't last long after getting rid of it. There are many, many variables in this sh_it storm.

    Rideandrepair and WREN Thank this.

    The famous warranty.
Sounds great when they sell it to you.
But just try to get something covered..
