Don't ride faster than your eyes can see ahead.

/me> old dude that kept both wheels down for all my miles.

Back in my chicken hauling daze if a biker got behind me drafting he wouldn't be there long.
That chicken juice coming out of the drains would put a end to his drafting days for good.:D

It's foolish, for the reasons that others have said. If you wish to jeopardize your own safety, please don't do it in a way that jeopardizes our way of making a living.

Being in tight behind one trailer doesn't guarantee that you won't get any wind from the unit that you both are passing. And you really don't want to be behind a cattle trailer, a reefer if the drain plugs are out, or a dump trailer hauling sand or caliche.

Also, if it was too cold for your heated gear to do the job then it was probably too cold to be out riding. Yes, my cruiser is put up for the winter.

Recognize your point re cold weather riding. I got an excellent deal from a seller in Tyrone, PA. which wouldn't last forever so I needed to go fetch the bike. Turns out my heated gloves wouldn't play nicely with my heated jacket, so cold hands were the big issue that day. Thought I'd had that trouble worked out ahead of time, but...alas. Overall, I'm okay with riding in the cold (my gear usually works!) as long as the surface I'm on is dry.

    RockinChair and Dennixx Thank this.

Aren't you in Texas? Man that's about the best time of year to ride. I rode very little in the summer. Step out the door at 10 am and it's already too hot

It'll be really nice in about a month, and won't get too hot until about May. Coincidentally, the riding weather is usually great right about the time the wildflowers start blooming.
