    No, I didn't get lucky. I was smart enough to be wearing the proper protective gear. Yes, there are accidents that even helmets can't help, but if you wear the right gear you greatly reduce your chances of death or serious injury.

    And I don't care what a coroner says, he only meets the ones who don't make it.

    I don’t wear a seatbelt. I’d rather be thrown to safety.

    Jk

    Of course safety gear in a bike is safer, what a stupid thing to say. Would you rather go sliding across pavement at 80mph with full gear on or with a tee shirt and no helmet? Even if you don’t hit your head you’d still lose a ton of skin.

    Get a lawyer located where you got the ticket....... and fight it or plead it down....

    If you just mail that in your nuts.....

    How fast were you REALLY going, OP? I'm certain the officer already cut you break by reducing the ticket to just only 5 over.

    Unfortunately being a CDL holder we are held to hire standards in any vehicle. Whatever you do protect that peice of plastic. Write a sob story to the district Attorney with a copy of your driving record and he should reduce it. I’ve done this once but it was before I held a CDL.

    Definitely not trying to say you shouldnt wear a helmet. The original statement was just meant to imply that motorcycles can be dangerous.

    And to the guy who wants to be thrown clear, suit yourself its not my life your putting in danger.

    Maybe it is.
    You see things you can't "un-see" when you're rolling in a Rollback.
    One T-bone accident, three in pickup, they ran a stop sign, one girl in middle survived;
    she bent forward, and the 2 guys hit their heads together.
    The drivers expression was still frozen in sheer terror.
    They both died of fractured skulls, she lived.

    Back around 1985ish me and 10 friends started the Pocono Mountain Chapter of ABATE.
    The repeal helmet laws group. You know the bumper sticker "Helmet laws suck."
    Got a charter from the main place in Harrisburg and we're off and running. Had a blast.
    All freedom of choice and all that. Got it up to 89 members, that's 180 with our old ladies.
    Try keeping that snake on the road!! Before too long we (most of us) were disillusioned and left,
    from the influx of "Weekend Bikers" who wore a suit during the week, then were all bad on the weekend.
    Always wondered if we really did the right thing. Got the helmet law repealed in Pa. from our efforts.
    I always personally wore a hellmut.
    It was my choice.

    I feel the same way in the truck; It ain't what I do;
    it's what Triple Six's triplets - Dummy, Dingleberry, and Stupid do - that worries me.

    An old friend of mine was running from the police in a stolen car. He was wearing his seat belt when he hit a tree head on. He died on impact from a broken neck. The belt kept him in place but his head kept going. His girlfriend was in the passenger seat and was ejected out the windshield and lived. There's also plenty of crash data that shows helmets can also kill in an accident. My point is, these devices may help but they can also hurt. The choice should be made solely by the occupants NOT the government. The nanny state crap needs to stop. Life is full of danger. You take a risk just walking down the street. BTW, thank you for stopping PA from becoming another Big Brother. The choice should be ours.

    I would definitely hire a lawyer in that area. They usually get something like that tossed and its well worth the money spent. With the way insurance companies are these days you are best to have a squeaky clean record. Don't mention anything to your company until the end result.
