You guys missed the boat a long time ago. MICROLON FAA-certification. Engines that make a C18 Cat look cheap. (And that’s as close as I’ll come to trolling). Follow the book and keep the engine load to 80% of maximum. .
I guess fortunately for my i could care less if you believe it. Didn’t put it there for you. Not sure what the significance is if the joining today part is and only having posted on that thread. I guess me having been an owner operator wait scratch that i have 3 trucks, a small fleet owner for the last 8 years and working on them for the last 12 years doesn’t count because I’ve only joined THIS site today. get a grip guy
I think its all "snake oil"....I have a '96 Chev. SWB 4x4 since new. I have always used Pennzoil in it. at 340k miles it was still running good (V6) 5sp. manual. No problems. My friend and neighbor mechanic had a V8 5.7L same year complete with ECM. Switched out and took the V6 because I always wanted a 5.7L in that truck. I like it better, but moral to the story, you don't need additives to make a engine last a long time, just quality oil and regular changes.
Yeah I’ll never use Lucas again! I have a 94 3406E cat and swore i only had a front cover leak. Didn’t have the money at the time to fix it (first truck i ever bought) and added Lucas. Sure enough it slowed the leak down to almost nothing! It wasn’t till i did my rods and mains that sure enough brass was showing through the whole rear main and pitted all to hell. What i thought i was putting a bandaid on Ended up also bandaiding a more serious problem. Lord only knows how close i was to spinning a rod on that one
Pennzoil bearing grease has something the others don’t. Can’t hardly get it off your hands! Good stuff.
The best thing I found for really cleaning the inside of an engine that’s been neglected is good synthetic oil. Had an 87 T-Bird Turbo Coupe that had some issues with sludge build up on the head when I bought it. Switched it to Amsoil, and a couple oil changes later it was amazingly clean. Then I ran way too much boost through it, and destroyed the rings. Sold it to some guy from out of town, and that’s the end of that story.
Hello folks. I was just reading what others had experienced with Motorkote to see if it similar to my experience. Some years ago I had a 1999 International Eagle with a 500hp series 6 pre-egr Detroit. It was running strong with 1,750,000 miles on it, and I thought I'd see if the stuff worked. (Only major motor work at that point was a new sleeve and piston at 750,000 due to a broken injector). Motor would use a little less than a gallon of oil between changes. I was using Delvac 15-40. I did not expect to hear or feel any noticeable difference. ...but the motor was very noticeably smoother running, and quieter. Ran better under load, and at idle. Can't really recall if mpg was better but to hear the motor smooth out like it did was very surprising....(a full synthetic may of have had same results) I'm going to try it in my 2013 Volvo 500hp D-13. Still using Delvac....I'll report back when I do.
Marvel is ATF with additives and I love it.I put it in all my air tools,I use it on nuts and bolts that won't budge(I also use PB Blast, which works great on rusty and oxidized parts)and when I pick up a motor that hasn't run for awhile,I pour it in the cylinders to prelube before cranking. As an oil additive,I don't know, but I do put it in my wife's 4 wheeler when it's a little low on oil.(it's cheaper than a16$ quart of synthetic). Please don't talk bad about Marvel, some of us love it.
And good driving habits.Good for you on the mileage, that's amazing.Just wondering, was it built in Canada.
