I personally like the beacon on the back and stobes in the front bumper. But I have mounted things to the fiberglass tops and with little sealant not had any problems.
I made two aluminium plates that you see on the side of the roof. I connected them by welding two pieces of 1 1/2 aluminium angle. I drillec out the hucks where it is mounted and installed rivnuts and bolted the piece to the roof complete with two stobes and a row of light left to right underneath the strobes. Has held up many years and many miles offroad in the oilfield.
Well I have given this idea up. Now I am after some ideas/photos of "in-the-grill" strobe lights. I would get clear lens amber LED models so they sorta blend in when not in use. I know i have seen them but not sure where....
First off you needs to understand the regulations concerning these lights. A lot of states require a minimum of a 8" strobe light that must be visible for 300 yds. Secondly, those guys you see that have lights in the grill also have roof mounted lights. I suggest you look into something like this, one mounted on each side of the sleeper near the top. http://www.iowa80.com/DirectionsWEB...=30100&itemdesc=Chrome+"Z"+Shape+Bracket+Only Also, have you thought about mounting a light on your headache rack ?
All I can say is that I have never been asked to turn them on when being inspected... With that being said, it was to my understanding that if you have a light on your truck, it needs to be working. Then on the other hand it only states in the regulations that headlights & maker lights must be operational. So now that I have you completely confused... I don't know. I just make sure all of my lights work and be done with it.
