Nope. I'll pass on tornadoes. Don't like the snow at all but I had no choice but to run thru it. Was fine after I made it out the valley part. Till I got back to icy roads in Memphis lol.

Just remember don't let anyone down slope on the bridges near Memphis on Ice. the last 7 or so on US 79 are really bad because they are not only curved but also sloped to where if you are on ice without sand at walking pace, that trailer of yours will slowly slide to the side crushing a family between it's loaded tandems and the barrier rail or worse, catch a corner and flip em all into the water. If in water deep enough at about say 34 degrees, you have about 3 minutes of useful actions to save yourself if at all possible before coma sets in prior to death in about 12 to 20 minutes. Takes the cold right out of you.Lepton1 Thanks this.

Rocky Mountains CO I - 70 , Immigrant Pass OR I - 84 quite simply one changes down to a suitable gear and climbs the mountain its that easy and then puts it in a suitable gear to go back down the other side. Remember the key is to save your brakes if they heat up to much going back down you could possibly lose control of your vehicle so again i stress the importance of choosing a suitably low gear one that will hold your truck without using any brakes.Brickwall Thanks this.

LOL...who said resurrecting an old thread was a bad idea?

Back way into Laughlin NV from Golden AZ. If the 2 lane doesn't get ya the 8% will.

Heavy... My comment regarding haters was hyperbole; didn't mean to suggest otherwise.
Monteagle it is. Will leave Louisville Tuesday morning and head to Nashville where I'll pick up I-24 East and head over the mountain. I'll have one speed ...slow. If folks don't like it, I can always go slower. -
If this is your first time running Mt Eagle do make sure you pull off at the brake check area and do that walk around checking your pads via the wheels with hand close by not enough to burn.
Mt Eagle has a set of signs for big trucks by weight. If it;s 80,000 gross your speed will be limited to 16 I think it is.
One thing I need to help you with if you are new to that particular hill. There are spots it slopes pretty hard enough to force you to steer to the outside of the mountain itself to keep your trailer in it's lane. It may not make sense now with words but you will understand what I mean when she starts to want to follow that slope against other lanes on gravity and you must turn your wheel enough to head to pretty much come off the mountain it would seem like. But not that much.Lepton1 Thanks this. -
It will be my first time and I'll be close to 80 pulling a tank. Thanks for the heads up.

Ok, the liquid is going to want out of that tanker. I don't recall right now what I have done in our grades hauling smoothbore milk when heavy and sloslhing those wheels tippy towards the inside getting light at times on that spring suspension back in the day. Thank God for Mack. (The trucks, not the Moderator LOL... ///TEASING... all in fun)
You might have to dump your air on your tractor to get the liquid to behave better closer to the pavement. But frankly I don't have enough play time on real mountains like Mt Eagle with a tanker load.
It goes without saying you are going to be at work on that hill coming down. Whatever anyone has to say to you over the radio does not matter to you unless it is something that involves actual life or death pending.Lepton1 Thanks this. -
Mount eagle seems easy. But if you don't respect it will bite ya. I heated my brakes on it once. Lesson learned.
