The best way off a mountain is getting to the bottom safe and sound and not seeing smoke or smelling your brakes. DON'T let anyone push you.

That's right, run the hill your way. Anyone have a problem with it and lean on you? They are a liability themselves and will get hurt, killed or set up a stupid preventable.

Usually with the unmarked hills downgrade it becomes about 9 to 11% or steeper when your 5th wheel starts trying to rotate your tractor back there as explained before. Hang in there and go easy, you will make it no matter how bad it's going to be.

For you newbies, you are going to scare yourself or really get scared at least once in your first year, that is where you reach down pull up some moxie and work though it.

I've never did that one, but I have done the one on 30 east of 160 going down into Schellsburg with heavy wiggle wagons. 4th gear out of 10 pretty much all the way, keeping it under 15 mph.

Exactly. I've driven "milk run" roads and #### near tipped over a trailer because the load was just THAT high center of gravity. I just took a load out to WA a couple days ago that was so high COG that I was taking 55 MPH curves at 40 on dry roads because 45 was just too dang FAST!

Ive taken 30 mph curves at 5 because that 52000 pound coil higher than a man stands on the deck is awesome tippy coming out of the gary mills. Looking back on that particular feat of engineering makes me appreciate what engineers have done and factories can do to make equipment like Raves totally strong and able to do this work.

There is one curve in Ozark west of 580 I think that road is called. in NW arkansas midway up the border with Oklahoma. That one is rated 5 for limited speed to take and even 5 is too fast.

The worst story I have for too fast was near St Charles MO on I70 west. Came over a little hill in a rain storm at 72 max governed speed loaded and rolling, actually rocking and rolling. What did I see? a mile worth of one foot thick blanket of hailstones over the interstate and here I am already on that ice at 72.

I simply froze. Waited for the world to end. Apparently that was exactly the right solution to that surprise. I came out of there at 30 mph and the radio laughing at me. Let em laugh. I don't like surprises.

Pshhh.. Ain't nothing till you look in your mirror and see your trailer tires 6" off the ground... LOL

Happened to me one time. I was thankful to have a spring ride stretch trailer that was extra heavy at the time.

I can't swear it, but I was definitely west of 220 so it could be.

US 220 runs straight NE up a valley from near Pittsburgh all the way to near Snow Shoe on I-80

If you are west of 220, you are crossing sawtoothed terrain I would imagine.
