If I use the stock antenna mount my cb antenna is way too high (for easy bridge clearance), but the mirrors dont have any place to mount, so any other ideas?

Iroc, im not positive on this, but i was told that on the T2000 the antennas were for the stereo, tv and cb all in one that are mounted up on the sleeper. can anyone confirm this? or is it not true, thats what i was told anyway. other wise you will have to fix a bracket somehow to your mirror bracket for an antenna
-
I know this is probably too easy but...Buy a shorter antenna.

Mount it behind the cab, like the rest do.
There are several rails to pick from depending on how the truck was speced. -
They make an antenna mount just for these trucks that mounts to the back of the cab. http://www.walcottcb.com/outback-cb-antenna-bracket-obkt-p-1039.html
You could use just a normal mirror antenna mount and bolt it to one of the grab handles on the back of the cab. just depends how neat you want the install to look and you will most likely need at least 21 ft of coax to run the antenna back side of the cab. -
the grab handles are too large a diameter for a standard mirror mount bracket
-
True but all you have to do is use longer bolts.

Okay, will putting it on the back of the truck make it not get as good of a signal? Will I have to mount it higher then usual if its on the back, we DO have a grab bar on the back, but when placed there it barely clears the top of the back as we have the roof windbreaker which is as high or higher then a trailer, being pinned between the trainer and the truck like that is that going to make my overpriced antenna useless?
I've got the monkey made one, and we paid a pretty penny for it so I'd prefer to avoid using the one piece of advice 'get a shorter one' lol. If it was a cheapo one I would... but I really like this one.
Oh nevermind i checked out the pictures of it, perfect. thanks! -
The one they sell at Wolcott is a wrap around.
It mounts on the grab handle and actually comes around the side of the truck, so that the antenna is on the side of the truck between the tractor and trailer.
It is actually a very good design, but they want a mint for it.
Actually price has dropped from a few years ago. 50 bucks is not bad.Last edited: Oct 10, 2009

Question, Does the antenna only see the metal parts of the truck as ground plane? If so then, if the air spoiler over the cab is plastic or fiberglass then mounting the antenna as shown in the image, to the side or even behind the spoiler, would have little to no effect on the antenna performance?
