The problem drivers in T2000's have is that the mounts are high on the sleeper.
If you want to use more than a short fiberglass whip then they can get too long.
This alternative will get the antenna mount at whatever hight you want, so you do not go over 13.6
And will allow them to use the big antenna they like to use.
You are however correct on the ground plane question. The fiberglass ect does not count.
There are some drivers that have had good luck with an artificial ground plain on this type of truck. It is a cable that is attached to the mount area, and goes across the back of the sleeper in a straight line.
This gives a good 90 degree reflector for the antenna, on a truck that otherwise does not have a good ground plane. Since many parts of the truck are aluminum.
This is really not a talk to have on these forums though. Last time I brought up a ground plane I had 20 people calling me an idiot and thinking I was talking about a ground.
I decided not to argue with them and dropped physics from my chats here.

    IROCUBabe Thanks this.

I made mine when I had my T2000 and used a 90 degree emt conduit elbow from the electrical section of home depot, drilled 2 holes in it and mounted the 90 in the cab extension behind the cab, the 90 moved the antenna around the outside of the cab, then use a mirror mount with longer bolts..... I hope that made sense
