moving a truck during reset

Look under the Performance Monitoring tab on your QC and check Parameters. The BOT shows how far you can drive before it switches to On Duty Driving and the EOT shows how much time you can drive before the switch over.

If you can't access the Performance Monitoring page, start out with the Hours of Service page open. Be sure you are logged Off Duty. As soon as you roll it should switch to show 8:00 or your available driving/on duty hours. Keep an eye on it and if it starts counting down stop and manually change it back to off duty. Repeat as often as you need but keep your flashers or right turn signal and keep it near the curb.

I used the above method to drive about 6 miles to Big Charlie's in Virginia Beach at 2am once. The City Kitty that pulled me over a block away told me to call for an escort to follow me next time. I was puzzled how he knew what I was doing and he pointed to the red light blinking on my QC. He said they weren't there to enforce HOS and would rather help prevent a run under accident. I bet if I'd given him any bs he would most certainly have been happy to enforce some HOS rules...

 

Don't put it on on-duty or driving. Leave yourself off-duty. The minute you change to an on-duty or driving status, you just tossed your break/reset out the window.

 

If it puts you on Drive Line for 1 minute.
You should be able to change it back to Off Duty and the 1min Drive Time will be taken off and added back to your previous status.

 

I would not log driving... I would just move it... I have qualcomm and have never had it trigger wnen I had to move my truck during a reset...

 

Your talking 500 feet your quallcomm is not even going to register 500 feet just move your truck I'll bet your comp never even leaves off or sleeper depending what your in

 

Just stay under mph or put it in 4th and don't go out of gear. I learned that they're usually set at 1 mile or a certain speed and it will click you over. Just move the truck at a slow speed you'll be fine.

 

My peoplenet is set at 10 miles.... drive for 10 miles and it kicks you to driving... drive less than 10 and your ok. All depends how your company set it up

 

I don't know about Qual com, but if I want to clear up a "mistake" ...I call my company and have it fixed... you could probably notify them before you move it.

 

OP, not sure what company you work for, every company will set up the parameters differently. A21CAV's post #11 pretty well nails it.

Most companies set it up so you can move up to about 10-15 mph and up to about a mile before it triggers drive time. Why do they do this? Ever arrive at a Walmart distribution center and have to log On Duty for delivery? You can move a mile from the point you change from Drive to On Duty in order to drop your trailer on the other side of that lot.

When I hear stories of drivers on Qualcomm blocking a fuel island because they are on a 30 minute break and "can't move the truck" I just have to shake my head. They are either completely ignorant of how their Qualcomm unit is set up or being a jerk.

I move my truck frequently when Off Duty. It's often a time saver when you move slowly out of a truck parking lot and get to the freeway, it will automatically kick you to On Duty Driving when you get up to speed on the freeway. You can save another 5-10 minutes as you get through traffic to the on ramp.

 

I can't edit drive time on my Qualcomm. I can edit everything else, I can also edit PC miles, but not line 3. So... My company allows X amount of time for PC miles. I can drive that allotted time, go off duty, then edit my PC miles to off duty and get that time back.
