even if you have a CARB compliant truck you might want to base your company is an other state and license it there,,CA has strict BIT inspection requirements that cost you money to be audited every year and more paperwork,

    How do figure that?
A '12 engine would be CARB compliant for decades.

Just my opinion, which doesn't amount to much. They don't have the manpower to enforce their regulations, I see countless non-compliant trucks when I'm out there, so my opinion is if he bases his truck out of state he could probably get away with running it for a while.

My whole main idea was to move back to oc cause of family there... Really don't what to deal with new trucks and there new problems 90% of the time it's a dealer fix... I just can't believe how they could make this a law why not let the old trucks fade them self out. Not make it a law... Eventually a lot of people would by newer trucks because it just becomes time but to make it law is just wow I feel we are living in Russia or something

The thing is, it has no effect on the day to day lives of most of the country. Just like you, you weren't living out there when it all started, when CARB was running wild and making their "laws". Now you want to move back and legally can't operate your truck and you're upset because now it affects you.

My significant other is working in Sacramento. I was running in and out of Cali on a regular basis but for the last year and a half we've been flying back and forth. It's cheaper than a new truck payment. I chose to no longer do business in CA, and I'm doing fine without it.

When I visit with her family or co-workers and I explain why I can't run my truck out there anymore they generally have no idea who or what CARB is, that they're appointed to their positions, and what they're doing to the trucking and farming industries in CA.

That's very wrong how people are not up to date I was upset with the whole emissions crap from the beginning... I truck in ny and I know operation in Cali is 100 times cheaper then ny.... Just wanting to move back to be near family just easier to have family watch children then others. But I really don't know about moving back just want to get out of here and move to a slower pace with good trucking area any suggestions...

But I am working on a long letter to governor of Cali and to the carb emissions board and the president.. To express my opinion and feelings. It may not go far but at least it's something better then just complaining

That's a tough call. If it were me, if I felt I wanted to be back close to family I would look into how to make that work. Truck wise it sounds like we're in the same boat. I have an '03 that's been rebuilt front to back, so my choice was easy as I have no ties to that state other than my wife working there. And that's an easy work around for us.

If you're certain that upgrading your truck isn't an option I wound check into living and working in neighboring states.

Slower pace? Anywhere away from either coast. Lol. Personally I haul livestock in the Midwest but before that I pulled flatbed out of western MT. Depending on what you want to do you could live in the NW and be home every weekend.
