Its just something my Fiance and I decided on doing. We are young and its gonna be a nice change, warm weather no snow. I figured I can do something on the side while looking for a decent company. I had a job with Swift but I dont think I wanna stick with one of those companies... Id rather stick with something local where I am home at night or at least weekends. She already has a job when we go down there and we found a cheap place on the ocean for half of what we pay in rent now.

That part of florida is beautiful.

You'll find work, if you want it !!

Talk to the nice folks at Twiss Transport in Largo.

    They may have a lead.........

Commercial Carrier has a terminal in Tampa, by the fairgrounds I believe. I don't know how much of a commute you want, but they are a company that will hire you as a student, it's not a whole lot of money, but the thing about is that you're not going to get much more out of a job just waiting for a driving job to open. It's a good place to start and get your experience, best thing about it is that it's local. They mainly do dry bulk product, sulfur and fertilizer, but they dispatch flat bed and van out of there as well. Give them a call at 863-967-1101, when I was there Terry McCormick was director of recruiting.

You would have get haszmat first before they hire you.I think they use to give you 30 days after hiring to get it but a friend of my apply and was told you need it before you start. So not sure but give them a call. Also they have a sister company CCC Transportation they have a local gig but pay is hourly and last I check it was like $13 - $14 hour and it was in day cab.

Florida: Home of the old and the slow!

There are jobs here, but good luck if you can find anything south of I-10, Below I-4 is even worse. There are jobs here, but they are hard to find.
