ya one thing I cant stand is when the old people do 55 in the fast lane and they refuse to change lanes. I think they should just stick to the nursing homes lol.

Bigarmin, Commercial Carrier is the CCC you're referring to. There is nothing hourly about their pay, you're paid by the load. And as far as Haz-Mat, I'm gonna have to say that's an on trial basis type deal. I worked for CCC, no need for haz-mat to pull a dry bulk tanker for them. CTL hauls haz-mat, but again CCC doesn't pay hourly, it's a load based pay, and haz-mat is questionable.
-
They must have change it,back in 06 I was looking to do the local gig and it was a hourly rate.I'm talking about the day cab runs. They much have change it then.
-
Ccc is garbage. I worked there for six yrs, but you're new so you'll get all the loads, which is why I left. Senior drivers are at the bottom of the load list. Just don't expect more than min wage. A load from jax to tampa pays 90 bucks and u get paid nothing to drive up to jax empty to grab the load. If u are lucky enough to get a load going to jax, its around 20 bucks.
-
What? I wish I made $14 an hour there, I quit in dec 2010...
Pay is based on a percentage of the load. Newbs get 20% and top is 25%. The load pay they show on ur paycheck is made up garbage. They have the contract with anheuser busch in jacksonville to haul all their florida loads, and usually we have to drive 200 miles to get the load empty. Pay is a total lie. It doesn't cost 450 bucks to go from jacks to tampa, with having to go empty to jax most of the time. They want us to believe the load is really that cheap. If u haul a load from tampa to jax they show it paying 100 bucks so u will only get 20. As if a trucking co is gonna charge 100 bucks for going 200 miles using a full 53 footer. Its all a scam. -
My advice is to line up several pre-hires in advance to moving to Florida. Make sure they know you're going to be living in Florida though. Florida is much harder to find a good trucking job in, but not impossible. The key is to know what companies hire out of Florida - there aren't a lot.
And, unless you go with CCC, which has been talked about earlier, expect to go over-the-road. You might get lucky and find something that keeps you close to home, but don't count on it.
For a new driver just starting out, here's who I'd call, in no particular order.
Crete Carriers
Con-Way Truckload
May Trucking
Watkins-Shepard (Not sure if they hire in FL)
Marten Transportation
Melton (Flatbed)
Schneider (Not sure on FL)
Roehl
There's others too but those are who I'd start with.
I'd go find a job flopping Whoppers before I worked for CR England or Werner. I could live with Swift, Covenant, CRST, & Heartland but expect to have problems.
One last thing. Don't be a fool and sign up for, or even consider, ANY lease (fleece) purchase plan until you've been driving for at least a year. -
Issue with Florida loads coming out is so hard unless your hauling produce. If you want a company that can get you home a lot,Steven Transport may one to consider, they haul for Tropicana in Bradenton and I see them a lot,all most every day.FFE also comes here a lot too.

Amen to that... I live on the A1A in NE Florida, and one thing I hate is that people do 35 in a 55 in the left lane, and people are either flying in the right lane or they go even slower...
People complain that Floridians cant drive, we can. It is the old folks that cant drive. -
amen to that bro!!!!
