Foaming caustic froze in my bleeder when I worked at Schneider. It was under pressure. Tried to vent through the dog but foam clogged it and it appeared to be depressurized. It got between my gloves and green suit and customer didn’t have an eye wash in easy reach. I used my own water but didn’t rinse it enough. Ended up with 2nd degree burn scars on my wrists. One of the reasons I left.

Estes or od? I even looked at averritt (100k) pulling a single 53 but the extra earning potential is greater at the primary ltl companies... reefer otr here all endorsements and twic intact over 2.5 years safe experience. Per diem plays a role was looking at wmt but no per diem there... guess graveyards worth the DnH at your own terminals that have bathrooms support mechanics shops not this go park on the street where you'll be ticketed and well call you need to crap here's a wmt plastic bag you worthless piece of trash some of these places are pretty bad at how they treat us

We always required the customer to check and sign off that the right stuff was going into the correct line/tank and again after that it was received, even when they off loaded.

Saved our butts too. I had the pleasure of telling the NJ DEP that I had said double signatures and the trail of caustic soap leaking out of the commercial laundry in Atlantic City wasn't my fault...faxed it to Trenton and we were clean...

The stuff was a white trail running down the alley and a bicycle patroll officer wodered why his legs were burning after riding by.....

That’s very helpful if someone takes care of the unloading! I’ll take note of that.

We do not open a valve until a customer rep signs of the the hoses are connected to the right place and that their tank will hold the product. Ever. CYA

Take note but don't take it as gospel. Every place is different. Also, you might unload in the same place several times and maybe on one trip the unloader guy won't be available. If you can clear it with plant management and your boss you could go ahead and unload yourself. If you knew how.

The HazMat tanker company that trained me had a policy that required the customer port for receiving product be labeled with the same product name or same UN number before I could connect to it. If the customer port was not labeled with the same name/number then the customer employee was required to put their hand on the port, so nobody was confused about which line I wold connect, and then the customer had to give an additional signature on the paperwork saying the port was improperly labeled/unlabeled and they accepted liability for connecting to the wrong line.

The pipe you connect to is mostly labeled. However sometimes the label is worn away. I would visually follow the pipe run, when possible, to the holding tank and if that haolding tank was labeled with the same product or UN number I would accept that as a labeled line. Some customers I visited only accepted one HazMat product. There was only one line that could accept anything. Some customers received dozens of HM products. Some customers had everything on the property and others had nothing labeled. You will receive training and you are expected to ask enough questions until you are satisfied you can load/unload safely or your company will have procedures for situations. The best organized customers will do everything to load/unload you and you will only be required to get signatures on paperwork. Generally, everyone is a lot less rushed and everyone has to agree before product starts flowing. Stay cautious, it helps everyone.

I’m in for a couple weeks of training or so. I just have so many questions about vapors, pressure, leaks, opening closing valves, driving habits.
i feel I’m starting trucking all over again lol.
