Do you want a trucking company school or do you want a private cdl school?
-
the company school would be more ideal so i could start work immediately to be honest. i would like to avoid private if possible since i would have to pay the costs upfront and then try to find a company to reimburse me for signing on
-
Titan Transfer has their own cdl school. They'll ship you to Shelbyville,TN and provide room and meals. @DRAGON64 can give more details.
Here's some more to compare:
Jim Palmer Trucking
Roehl Transport
Contract Freighters Inc. (www.cfidrive.com)
Wil-Trans - owns Jim Palmer Trucking, but a seperate company. Wil-Trans runs eastern half of USA and Jim Palmer runs coast to coast)Last edited: Jul 7, 2017
Ultratowel Thanks this. -
yeah i looked at wil-trans earlier and it stated that i couldnt have a following too closely violation in the last three years which rose the question for this thread to begin with
-
im going to have a serious look into this a little later, im going for a physical today as im a little concerned about the dot physical aswell since i am overweight. im a little worried about my sugar and blood pressure levels
-
DOT physical is strict on blood pressure and sugar levels. Companies might hit you for sleep apnea test also.
www.rpmhst.com has sleep apnea information if that happens.CrappieJunkie Thanks this. -
Tbh following distance is a very big deal to trucking companies. Have seen people cleaning out their truck at Swift because they kept setting the drive cam off for following distance.
They will probably give you a chance, but keep in mind that you do need to learn from this. Following too closely in a big rig can get you or someone else killed. Like dead -
Honestly i had the ticket but it was bogus. The cop infront of me break checked me and since I turned into the other lane to avoid him instead of braking was the reason as to why he gave me the ticket. His reasoning was that I only swerved because I was following too closely. I'm generally a very safe and cautious driver. Being an motorcyclist I've grown very strict and respectful of the road rules.

I think you will be ok for now. But take it easy. Following to close, 15 and over speeding, unsafe lane change are some of the big violations when driving a truck. Any of them you get a ticket and conviction for in any 3 year period will suspend you cdl for 90 days
