Nobody is paid .32/mile at Prime. Bare minimum to start is .36 in a condo. Who
makes .36 at Prime? Trainers in a condo truck taking a break by running solo with no trainees and newbs that want a condo and get a lucky assignment, or prove themselves in a lightweight truck are getting .36. (Trainers are paid .28-.29 team miles with a trainee on board)
Since most newbs don't get a choice of a condo it's an additional .05 in a light weight truck. Now add in the fuel bonus... that fuel bonus can get up to .06 mile and you better believe that .1 mpg matters because the fuel bonus pays out into the thousandth dollar.. .06, .059, .058...
I got 9.5 mpg last week, that was .06/mile. 8.8 the week before. i run 55.
Most of our newbs out of the box with no fuel bonus make .41/mile... With the potential of making up to.47/mile with the fuel bonus.
so ignore the bonus cause you'd rather run 12000 miles at .32/mile.
our guys will ignore the bonus too and run 9500 miles at .41/mile.
Do the math again an lets see who you call an idiot now. Add in the bonus to see who looks like a moron. So proud of your calculator skills, this one should be easy.

Now if the driver lives in the NE, he can join the NE fleet regional and get another .05/mile
-
Im sorry, I would much rather have a condo that runs 67 and have to wait 13 hours somewhere than have a little closet sleeper and be waiting 13 hours. ..fuel bonus or not, why choose to be a hazard to everyone on the road? 55 is dangerous in a 70 mph zone.. really 67 is being dangerous..
Heres my math..
.39cpm x 5 days at 560 miles a day.. 1092 before taxes.. going 67.. not sitting much and being home on weekends.. based on my 11, 200 mile month.
.46 x 7 days ( im not aware of a home weekend fleet) at 339.28 miles equals 1092.50 a week based on your 9500 mile month..
Why would you want to sit around all that time? I stay busy and see my family on the weekend. You guys are otr.. I make the same as you but I stay occupied. . I dont know about you but im here to work.. no go slow and worry about my mpgs.
To me, its less stressful to go as close to the speed limit as safely possible than to drag tail around all day at 55-60.
I applaud you if 55-60 makes you happy.. but what about all those people passing you.. you have a higher probability for trouble to occur than someone who has just half the amount of vehicles attempting to pass.. I have no proof or study to back this up.. but it seems to me that its common sense.Last edited: Jul 14, 2013

Do you pay the fuel , or are you a company driver ?
-
Im company.. tried leasing and didnt like it. I want to stay busy and run.. if I wanted to work 8 hours a day, I would take a factory job and be home. I want to run my 11, get as many miles as safely and quickly a possible and then shut down.
What im saying is.. for a little more work you cab make the same exact thing and not be a road block.. its just not prime.. crete, may and many others.. even my company slowed down the new tiny trucks to 64..
What im not getting.. why go slow and according to yall.. run 9500 miles a month.. 3xx miles a day just to sit and be away from home? I dont understand the mentality of work less.. I guess im just not one for sitting or driving at grandmas speed. Although im sure someone will chime in and tell me how horribly wrong and ignorant I am, by someone, who thinks 67 makes you a super trucker.. -
What? Your 67mph truck lets say averages 65mph with stops and starts and such. So that's 65 x .39 x 11hrs a day x 5 days= $1394.25 . Then we have 55mph with lets say a 50mph average. NOTICE THIS AVERAGE IS 5 MPH LESS WHERE YOURS IS 2MPH LESS.....ADVANTAGE TO YOU. So that's 50mph x .46 x 7 days x 11 hrs a day = $1771.00 . THEY ARE PULLING IN ALMOST A THIRD OF YOUR PAYCHECK MORE PER WEEK USING YOUR MATH. So every 3rd week would be like a extra paycheck to me. All this for going slower? PASS ME PLEASE!!!!!!!!

I don't know WHY I am coming back to this conversation......
So it's worth it for you to work 3 weeks straight with no time off (which you legally can't do. on the 7th day, you'd have a 70 hour limit hit. forcing a 34 hour reset) Now, you have to also take off the fuel times as well as your mandatory DVIR that you must fill out, theres another 5 hours lost limiting you to 65 hours actual driving time in 7 days. so it's really .46*65*50=$1462.50 over a 7 day period.
In the mean time, he's spent two days at home each week, and still earned 65*.39*55 hours (he still has the 5 hours bringing him to a total of 60 hours on-duty he needs to fuel and do his DVIR available to him) and earned $1394.25 over a 5 day period.
A true difference of only $68.25.
Is your time from your family for those two days REALLY worth $68?Dark_Majesty_06 Thanks this. -
I see how it is here.. no matter what we say or PROVE.. they will turn it around on us. So ill keep on passin yall.. because I wouldnt ever make otd if I kept my distance and never passed yall.. it would put my speed down around 47 or so.. that would be one boring ride.
So both myself and mndriver have proved our sides and ill bid you all a good day.MNdriver Thanks this. -
I was just posting a reply to his math skills not a real world scenario. I also try to talk younger drivers off the faster is better ledge. See I ran triple digit truck in the 90's , 550cat 18sp largecars but now is different times and the man is coming down on all of us. He wants to install speed limiters set at 65 but we all know that will go to 55 after a while. They say out of control truckers are speeding and killing people. Let me tell u the new 70mph is the old 80mph in big trucks and what the rest of the drivers do now impacts me and my wife who rides with me. If u run into the back of me while I drive 55mph it just proves you shouldn't be driving anything. I never hit anyone who was driving slower nor did they cause me to wreck. ITS YOUR RIG CONTROL IT OR PARK IT.
