ive been running 62 all month long i mean 65 every now and then when needed maybe 2times? so my mpg has came up alot and i know where the limit is on my truck for fuel last time i was scared that i would run out of fuel. but im not too worried about it.

    (1) whether you top it off or run it to bone dry, you're still going to have to use the fuel and the added weight from fuel isn't going to matter much in MPG. This isn't calculated on a daily basis, but rather a monthly, and 3 month average.

(2)Running the loads as fast as possible isn't always the result of drivers time management. Often it is the result of dispatch/load availability. I've had several loads which had to be ran at max speed from Laredo to Ft. Worth without so much as time for a piss break unless I wanted to sit on the load for the weekend. Sitting for the weekend isn't conducive to a good paycheck.

    (3) Sure sit with the engine off when it's triple digits plus, I got the message the other day and 2 of the hints were to "keep OOR miles below 8%" and "reduce idling" I called and had a talk with the guy in our fuel department and asked him to look at how many loads I had where there is a 0 on miles from delivery to the next pickup. I then told him to google map those and tell me how many in city miles I had ran (I did alot of Houston and Laredo loads recently). Those can often pay cartage, but they aren't used when calculating OOR or MPG for some reason. I also pointed out the number of days I have sat recently (I run Texas regional now so there is some sitting involved on weekends), along with the average temperature (by the way this July was the hottest on record since we began keeping records).

After the chat the guy said I wasn't in any danger since this is a recent development for my mileage, but just to keep an eye on things. Even running 60-62 (which I do when it's possible) doesn't help much when you've got miles which aren't calculated and ALOT of time sitting.

I got lucky enough to see the house 2 nights, and my MPG was still like 5.8mpg. That is also with running alot of local stuff and state highways where I had to stop in every little town.

If ur pullin heavy loads or have a lot of hilly runs, ur mpg is gonna suck no matter what. The biggest factor is shifting at lower rpms. I'm in a 660 and I shift right around 1250 rpms most gears and I get 7.3 or better each load. 6.5 for heavy loads. I have an apu on mine so that helps too but I reset my odometer each load so I know what I get per load. Going 62 helps slightly but it doesn't make or break ur mpg like over rpm shifting does.

Still baffled on some people not being able to hit mileage. I do a reset (36 hr for Canada) everyweekend, drive 65 MPH, shift around 1400-1600 RPM when heavy in cities (alot of paper loads in Toronto, water near NYC, etc) and have never hit below 6.2. I would get your truck looked at. One thing, probably the only thing that helps, is I'm EXTREMELY watchful of tire pressure on tractor and trailers. Other then that if it's above 72 the truck is running. I guess in Texas/ down south your kind of screwed and I've got nothing but watched 2 trucks of ours run all night w/ the temp at 58 degrees droppin to 54, that had to hurt. I do notice that city runs do hurt quite a bit too, sitting in traffic running 14 miles 1-2 times a week kills my entire month when that happens.

I think that's a KW deal, like in cars how once E light comes on you have 75 miles and stuff. If I run mine 180 mi after empty light comes on I can take 160 gal of fuel that's it. I'm not willing to push any further because the last 5 or 10% might not be able to be run due to hills, length of pickup hose, etc

    inyerviews went well
