Oh, and YES! I use my Jake brake whenever I need to. It saves wear on my expensive brake shoes!!

Ive got the same engine setup you guys do and I tried that fuel additvive in my dd15 for its first winter and it hates it. My mpgs are terrible when I use it. I switched to "the big white bottle" aka PowerService and my mpgs were much better. I wonder what is different between our engines?

One thing I didnt see mentioned here is downshift point. These engines are made to lug down before downshifting. I routinely pull down to 1000 rpms before I downshift to avoid unnecessary shifts. You will be surprised how many shifts this eliminates.

I have done some math so have a look and correct me if I am wrong. If you are aiming for a high PFP score then this isn't for you. If you are trying to earn as much as possible, you should read.

Going to keep all the math simple and the same between both situations. This is an ideal situation but the same math applies regardless.

Baseline. 50 hours per week of driving and base pay of .40cpm

Scenario 1 - max mpg and PFP.

50 hours drive time multiplied by 58 mpg equals 2900 miles.
2900 miles times pay of .46 CPM (Base pay plus max PFP) equals 1334 gross pay.

    Scenario 2 - max pay
50 hours multiplied by 65 mph equals 3250 miles.
3250 times .44 (base plus PFP assuming no points awarded for mpg but all other fields were fine) equals 1430 gross pay.

So even though you are not getting the max PFP, the miles you run would more than cover it on your check compared to doing 58 and maxing out mpg. Nearly 100 per week. You could probably sneak another load in there as well since you are covering more miles per week which has potential for more tarp pay as well. You could go as far as to factor in more pilot rewards points as well but that is a stretch to say the least.

Since mpg only gives us 10 points on pfp where mpd gives us 50, it is more beneficial to run as many miles as possible and let the mpg fall where it may. You can even still get 6 CPM because when you go over your mpd quota, you earn bonus points that could make up for the loss in mpg points.

Am I correct in this math and logic? I know its in a perfect world but I used the perfect world for both scenarios

    RERM Thanks this.

I'm not gonna debate it. Do whatever works for you.

yeah, in theory, you are correct, but just because you COULD run "more miles" because you were going faster- does not necessarily mean that the FM and CSR are going to actually miraculously get you those additional miles (i.e.-the extra load where those miles would have to come from).

oh and BTW, I cannot stand the PFP program, I am on record on here before anyone else stating that it was a bad deal, and especially for dedicated acct drivers. I think the old MPG Bonus was awesome, and I was very saddened by them making this change.

I realize that this is on the Maverick section of the forum but I like the topic, so....

Are you guys on the flat or reefer division?

Were you using additive is the Series 60s as well?

What dosage are you using? At the recommended amounts or lower?

These trucks are about 1350 @ 60 MPH, correct?

I'm gonna say one more thing, then I'll hush! Running "wide open" you are wasting fuel and costing Maverick money. If you drive smart, you can save maverick money. If I take care of my company, they will take care of me.
