I have a question. I have been seeing these triangle shaped devices on some truck. I do not know what they are called, but assume they are for wind control or to aid in fuel economy. Do any of you have any experience with these? Do they work?? Where can I find them?

Air Tabs. http://www.airtab.com/dloving8915 Thanks this.

I'd stay away from both of those engines because neither are reliable.
The biggest problem with ISX is their EGR & cooler going bad at $3500 a pop.
DD or N14 or you more reliable engines. Sometimes 1 mile to the gal less is still cheaper then repeatedly having to repair a common reoccurring issue.Mommas_money_maker Thanks this. -
Detroit Diesel is reliable??? :smt005

Eaton18 Thanks this. -
He now, my old 12.7 went 800k miles before it needed any engine work, and that was only a water pump. I know plenty that have gone well over a million w/o any problems.
As for the OP, I'd take the ISX over the D12. And I'd take just about anything over a Volvo -
Had way more probs with C15 CATs than any detroit iron. Worst motor CAT has ever produced.

Maybe the older DD Series 60 was a decent motor. The head had to be re-ported to accommodate the DPF system S60 was not designed to carry. This significantly weakened the head and it became problematic for warping and cracking. DD15 seems to be somewhat more reliable, although I have seen a few with blown wrist pins, which warranted replacement of the entire engine. Fuel economy and power availability on the DD15 are disappointing in comparison to promises and expectations made by the manufacturer.
My Cummins 435 ISX outperforms the last Detroit I had, a last generation 515 S60, by a long shot in pulling power, climbing, acceleration and fuel economy. Additionally, maintenance for my ISX is about ⅓ what that S60 cost with the same number of miles.Dryver Thanks this. -
Both the EGR and the Cools on my ISX have been non issues. I still get good mileage an performance @ 1.1 million miles. We are looking for our next truck and the one biggest requirement is that it WILL have a cummins in it!

Im a company driver in a 09 with a cummins and an et 9spd and I average 7.3. I'm governed at 62 and tend to run at 74-80k all over the country if that helps
