My Truck, 14L Detroit, 435 hp, 340ish gearing, low profile tires. 10 speed. I tow my camper, 21k and carrry my SmartCar, 1900, on steel deck, 14' long. I get 6ish mpg. running 60 mph. Truck has 750,000. Has Detroit blowby. Doesn't seem excessive. Wondering if it needs an overhead. Understand Detroits need them more often. I do not use this commercially.

I just had an overhead done on my 06 14L mileage improved @ 1/2 mpg. I haven’t noticed a performance improvement. It has over 1 mil.

Are you saying that with the deck for the Smartcar and the Smartcar, your tractor weighs 19k?

No. sorry about that. Smart is 1900. Changed that. Been meaning to weigh unit but haven't. I have added steel boxes under deck since pic also. Bobtail it will get 7. Thing is, it is a light load and wondering if I should get better.

Wow , the difference between a pre-egr 12.7 and an egr 14! I am considering bobtailing from Chicago to the Iowa 80 Jamboree. My truck gets 12 bobtailing, and my wife's suburban gets around 13.

I'd say you aren't doing too bad. I run a 6.7L Powerstroke and I might get 8-9 mpg at 18k lbs total gross weight.

My 12.7 will do around 9-9.5 when empty with a flatbed trailer. I’m right around 29k lbs or so. I got an overhead when i got it at around 429k miles. Has 635k now and still getting those numbers

Your mileage is what most tell me about pulling their rvs. Some with these newer trucks are getting 10ish. I'm not complaining. I don't put enough miles to make a noticeable difference. What yall paying for an overhead?
