It looks like my truck actually did have a bad case of the P.O.Ses. :biggrin_25512: I wrote my truck up for a leaking turbo, and my pass mirror being duct taped in place due to excessive movement. They found the leaking turbo, leaking headgasket causing coolant to be mixed with oil, and the EGR valve not working. There was a couple of other things the guy rattled off, but I forget, those were the big ones.

As for GPS, I had the the NavWorld, thats the one that costs $600 at the truck stops, well I didn't like it. It took to long to find a route, and when it did, I didn't like the route it made. I recently sold it on ebay, and just have my normal car GPS in the truck. It's nice to have just for what other guys have said, telling you what road is coming up next, or your approx distance to go and time of arrival.

All right enough talking about Roehl for me, it's time to enjoy my home time. :biggrin_255:

Coasting is not illegal as far as being against the law. It is against Roehls policy. So here is what I should have said. When exiting a freeway of cruising thru traffic trying to gage lights simply push in the clutch and let it free wheel, once you are at a point you need to be simply select the proper gear and proceed. Roehl feels as though you do not have control of the truck if it is in neutral and coasting. As long as it is in gear Roahl considers you to have control of the truck regardless if the clutch is pushed in.

Also I agree with Venture. I have never used a GPS and everything works out just fine.

I drove for over a year without a GPS and did O.K. but when I updated my phone with Verison there GPS had one month free. I find that programing in stops before I leave gives me the option to turn on the GPS quickly if I run into construction, have bad instructions, or just plane miss a turn off. I still use the Roehl instructions and customer instructions for most stops, but it is nice to have the GPS for insurance. Especially when trying to find street signs in a city in the dark. Even with the verizon GPS on the truck setting it will still send me down every residentual street and back road it can find so I never rely on it competely.

It is illegal (although hard to enforce) in most states. Just some references:

Alabama Section 32-5A-57, California Vehicle Code 21710, Nevada NRS 484.459, and Florida Statute 316.2024.

Almost all cover either out of gear and/or clutch disengaged and state on a downhill grade but like any law it open to (mis)interpretation under the right circumstances. Anyway you get what I'm saying, just one more thing to CYA on if you find yourself in front of jury and greedy lawyers.

Oh, and like most Roehl policies (or any large company for that matter) it's there so they can distance themselves from you should any litigation arise.

Doc, I got the same talk and told my DSR (oops sorry Fleet Manager now) that I couldn't care less about her talk. I remained very polite as ticking them off does no good, their just doing their job as their told. I said when they can compare exact loads and weights then complain to me. I also said I'd been waiting over a month for a fuel filter. The routing system stinks as we are sometimes going thru small towns with lots of stop and go, wasting fuel to save 8 miles on a 400 mile run. I also told her when we have a fuel dept. that can't always send us our mps after filling up then they sure can't tell me I'm off. They monitored me for the next month and told me my new average was over 7 mpg. I make sure to tell them I'm doing nothing different, so the laughs on them. That being said they're still about the best company out there and I for one am not leaving them. That reminds me anybody know the pro's and cons to their lease program?

Check out the thread "Roehl lease program", it has some good info, also go to Roehl's sight for basic lease info.

i have an 07 FL and run boxes now too... I usually get high 6 to low 8. I use the PC miler truck GPS dashboard version from a pilot, swear by it, been going by it for 2 months now, not used a map and only look at opti for fuel stops, my routes are close to opti but smarter and sometimes actually save me miles

Has anybody ever watched to see if the number they get back on the qualcom...I mean driver link.....is actually accurate? I just checked at my last fill up, and when you divide miles by gallons, I got 7.38. yet the message I got back said 6.5, I'm going to bring this to my fleet managers attention on monday and see what she says.
