MRE's

just had the brilliant idea to try a heater meal at the t/a 3 cheese lasagna
smells like lasagna
cheese ended up grey after cooking it and i dont eat grey cheese so i said #### it and put it bac in the box
then again it was vegetarian lasagna so does that mean it wasnt even real cheese to begin with
who knows

 

Yep, I ate em for 9 years and counting in the Corps. They are still nasty!

Actually, I liked C-Rats. I got in at the end of those. They were real good food IMO. If you can get down to SoCal, you can have my case of MRE's that is sitting in the garage.

 

They would give us a big greasy fried chicken dinner when we would come back from the field. Lots of veggies on the side too. After 20 days out eating only MRE's, I have to agree that their sole purpose is to shove ALLOT of calories at you and to plug you up so you do not leave anything behind, so to speak. Eat 'em if you want, but there has got to be a better alternative.

It sounds like they are trying to get more "inventive" with the meals nowadays. For better or worse.

 

The best part was the freeze dried fruit (add cold water and drink it down) and the little bit of chocolate, if you were lucky enough to get it. Or the chicklets.

Mmm, chicken ala-king...

 

I have the Chicken version and it is very, very good. In fact, whenever they go on sale, I buy as many as I can afford. They are tasty. I have 3 boxes left in the truck to eat.
