A lot of guys here run the used oil heaters. Especially you having a repair shop you will have a lot of used oil you need something to do with. And spray foaming the inside of a shop really seals out the dirt and keeps the heat in during the winter and the heat out during the summer!

Spray foam is awesome! Dad’s shop is a 60 x100, 3) 24’ doors, and he said it costs about $110 per month for the natural gas to keep it 60* in there. My shop is foamed as well, but my 20’ overhead door faces west, and apparently it’s not insulated above an R5. I went through 600 +/- gallons of LP so far this winter, but man that’s better than frostbite!

Mine does need insulation cause it’s got 0 lol. I do have a big wood stove that was built years ago we call puff. Cause it goes to puffin bout time it gets right. It’s got a waste oil line plumbed in. The oil is the trick to getting it hot lol.

I don’t know this fella at all. First time I met him was when he come rollin in with this truck. Just talkin to him and looking the truck over says he’s picky really picky. 94 model he has had since 98. Only driver doesn’t let anyone else touch it. Swears it’s never been hot and I believe it. If you look at the first pic you will see the hole starting to erode right over my thumb print. That spot is rough been bubbling from heat. The spray pattern starts way outside the bowl. Yet the tops ain’t cracked to ####. Then I find a head cracked in every hole just like that and it’s wet stacking #3. 750k original miles on truck. Less than 40k ago he had rods, mains done. Swapped the 15 to an 18 and had rear structure done. Then had nozzles replaced, a Borg 178063 put on which is a copy of that big Switchzer turbo CAT used back in the day. (Turbo tech in the 90’s was non existent but that’s the turbo we hung on all of them. Also what’s on my brown truck with no desire to change it for what I’m doing) And they messed with pump and timing. All that was good till they messed with pump and timing. They also put a compressor on it and left the o ring fitting loose that runs over to the intake. So major boost leak. The cracked head baffles me I checked it for compression prior to tear down and there was none. So it’s not cracked to a water jacket. To say it’s been hot is an understatement, I do however believe it didn’t show hot. Pyro is post turbo, it’s a guide there and only a guide. Form a baseline if 700 is where it always runs don’t go to 9 thinking your okay. I really think the pyro on this truck was a lying s o b. Still yet if you do not know then do not crank on #### you have no business with.

Sounds as if all you need is putting the heat down on you/the work ares. Might hang one of those floor sitting squirrel cage floor dryers the clean up people use. Hang /mount a little higher than your present stove and so you can twist/angle it to get an aimed flow. Direct the heat rising to the ceiling above it to where you are working. Heat is going up in the attic, you are down on the floor.
