Mercury sleepers, we called them "the coffin". I believe the older ones did NOT have a crawl through, and I heard of team drivers crawling along the running boards while the truck was still moving to get in. Anybody remember Pirkle? In the '70's, they ran "Western" RS 700L(?) model Macks with Mercury sleepers. At the time, Mack didn't offer a sleeper.( except F model) Note blue 70's car on other side, looks like an Olds. That picture was taken at Patrick Cudahy. Been there many times. Good luck finding one. Out west maybe.

I know the opening on my Mercury was larger than window as I had to cut cab opening to match..about 36" x 36" Only bunks I saw with no cab access were homebuilt ones Tudhope Transport used and I know of one instance driver in bunk stepped out for a leak when truck stopped and was accidentally left on the side of the highway in Northern Ontario.
Ruthless Thanks this. -

The diamond pattern sheet metal is available in stainless steel. It is still used in commercial kitchens as a backsplash. Not sure where to source the aluminum. I know I could make the aluminum pattern on my bead roller but would i want to? NO!
