I have a Gerber that I bought when I was working overseas @2006. Still have it and it does come in handy. It doesn't take the place of a good basic toolkit, but it wasn't meant to either. Mostly use the somewhat needlenose pliers and the screwdrivers. I looked at some new ones, some that had more stuff, but they seem cheaply made and I don't really need the extras.

I carry a leatherman I believe its called the wave. We aren't allowed to do any work on our trucks unless its something like replacing a mudflap or topping off fluids. Its one of those union things.

I have carried a Leatherman wave for 10 years. Since before i was a driver.
I dropped my Leatherman down a furnace flue while putting on a cap and couldn't get it back until I did the annual service the next year. It was destroyed beyond repair. I sent it to Leatherman and they replaced it no questions asked.
Something to consider. They are quality tools for small things.

I have a Kershaw that has locking pliers which is handy. I doubt I would buy another multitool when the regular tools work a lot better with less hassle.
