    Both of these companies accept pets. I think that Southern Refrigeration has better health insurance to start.
    Can someone give me a comparison or reason why one company would be better to start with?

    The biggest difference, other than SRT is refer and CFI is dry van is the pay.

    They both start newbies out at 0.28cpm HOWVER.....CFI pays PRACTICAL miles where as SRT pays HHG (short miles). That is anywhere from a 7-15% difference.

    Don't know about SRT, but 4 of my buddies work for CFI and they all are extremely happy. If you PM me, I have a good site you can go to for CFI.

    My best friend used to drive for Sharkey out of Quincy, IL. He loved it there, and to date it's the longest he's been with any company as a driver. He made good money there and got pretty decent hometime. The will get a driver home every weekend. After less than a year there he got a brand new truck. He ran pretty lawlessly, that is, he ran two logbooks. Not a good idea, I realize, nor is it what I want out of a company, but some drivers just want the freedom to break the law. Some of their downfalls that I can recall from him is that their trucks don't pull hills very good, the jake brakes don't really do anything to slow the truck on a downgrade. He drove a Mack Vision. Mr. Sharkey owns the Mack dealership in Quincy and someone convinced him that a bigger horsepower engine (400+) means poor fuel mileage, so he specs the trucks with a 350bhp Mack engine.

    My friend was treated very well, and they always seemed to bend over backwards to make him happy. During the 2 years he was there he tried nearly every fleet they have except for their flatbed division. He started off as a Kansas City regional driver, then went to reefers, then his final division was on their Old El Paso dedicated. The only time he worked a weekend was when he wanted to. When he was home, they didn't mind if he drove the truck to Wal-Mart to shop for supplies for the truck. Anything else you'd like to know that I didn't cover, just PM me.
