I got into Colorado eastbound on I-70 last night for what I thought was going to be the start of a big week to find the chain law in effect at Vail Pass and now the Eisenhower tunnel as well. It doesn't look like they're going to lift it today and there seems to be a good chance they won't tomorrow, either.

I don't have but 17,000 in the box, so I'm doing like I was trained to do and sitting it out in Grand Junction where the weather is actually nice and calling 511 every half hour. I'm tempted to run it to the 133 for a quck jump when it's lifted, but I'm thinking the parking situation will be a nightmare.

It seems like CO would have getting 70 cleared down to a science by now. Guess not ... Just looking at the weather channel and the DOT webcams, I don't see anything resembling a blizzard. At least I'll have a fresh 70 by the time I get moving again ...

I'm glad I'm not westbound out of Denver, though. I just called again and now they have a closure at Georgetown courtesy of a "rolled vehicle."

You are going to have a hungry winter if you don't quickly loose that fear of chaining. Running in the mountains during the winter means chaining for the passes. Nobody "likes" it, but its part of the job.
Sitting for 3 days won't be paying the bills.
