One last week with my TE and off I go... pheew! What all stuff should I carry with me? I am not asking food or drink items.. I mean, things that makes life easier OTR. Btw, I do need to get microwave & mini refrigerator since company truck wouldn't have one..nor will they have an APU :( Which one (microwave & refrigerator) would you recommend for a truck? What are some must have things and some nice to have, OTR. Also, could you guys recommend some cheap full sleeve work shirts & jeans to wear OTR. (something comfortable and sweat resistant.) TIA.

Will the truck have an inverter?. If not forget about the fridge and micro.

I haven't been OTR for many moons, but I do haul tanks. The guy I tagged is currently a year in with SNI bulk, doing rather well. If he doesn't show up, maybe go read some of his posts. I think he's still on a mini vacay, and may not be on, atm.

Best luck in your new journey; welcome to tanks~! :)

Not sure at this point.. may or may not.. I have not been assigned a truck yet. Still riding with my trainer. Just wanted to be prepared for what I may have to purchase.

I'm glad you posted this. Husband is finishing his school next week and we're starting to think about this very thing.

What size sheets are standard? Twin size?

We're starting to look into GPS units and CBs as things that will be very nice to have.

That, I do remember from my OTR days.. it was Twin XL's. Regular twins were "almost" too short. As far as GPS.... there's so much info in that forum, as well as for CB's.. Maybe @rabbiporkchop can help you out with the CB part, tho~! :)

First and foremost, ALWAYS have an atlas.... current as possible. GPS's are secondary, as things break down, books don't (under normal use, of course...)

Regarding the GPS, @Mark Kling is your go'to guy there ... do some research in the electronica part of the forum. Personally, I have a Garmin Dezl 500 series, but I'm in mostly the same places all the time. It's decent, though I'd prefer a RM GPS if I had to do it again.

Best wishes to your husband, as well~! :)
