Yes others are available. You don't have to have a dial type gauge on it. But do get a long one as it will be a lot easier on you when checking the inside tires.
Also, I always carry some WD40 and duct tape.
Must have tools

I never did.
The guy who trained me had three things, a pair of pliers, a roll of electrical tape and change for the pay phone.Justrucking2, Woodys, CrappieJunkie and 3 others Thank this. -
I never did either. However some of the drop yards I had to go to there were lots of this. Anytime you see drivers taking their 10 hour breaks and no toilets anywhere close you are going to see this. There is a Pilot Truck stop next to the racetrack over in Ill form St Louis that has a large drop yard across the road from it. I lost count of the times I have seen this crap on the ground. There is another drop yard in Dallas that is this way too.

Those cheaper ones might work but can be reading wrong, find one someone knows is right to check, then a long hose with a gladhand on one side and air chuck on other to fill up a tire when needed, also a clean towel and window cleaner so all the windows and mirrors can be clean help, plus all basic hand tools.
IluvCATS Thanks this. -
Then get yourself a dozen or so valve caps so when you get inspected all your caps are on, some find it easier to reach over and take the ones on the truck next to them instead of having a supply, going capless can get you a ticket.
IluvCATS Thanks this. -
Brass quick connects and assorted fittings in the sizes of all the airlines on the truck. And spare glad hands, air brake antifreeze, big crescent wrenches, spare fuses

He was referring to what you said about carrying a ton of tools, not the part about leaving surprises in the parking lot.
