As some already stated usually 3yrs.
If they want your h6(10yr) they'll ask you to provide it or ask you to sign a release so they can pull it.

They can see your lifetime mvr if they wanted. WRONG!
FMCSA requirement is 10 years. That's what I was told by my local division. WRONG!
Actual requirement would be up to the companies insurance. Again WRONG as stated. The FMCSA has established a minimum time of 3 years. Anything over that is optional. For the record most all of the larger carriers are self insured. Insurance is not part of this question for them. If a carrier is using insurance AND being underwritten by said insurance company then YES they are going to check MVR histories.

The question has been answered. lets enjoy a Friday evening.

For the record here is 391.23 I will make bold the main part. I had to edit most of that regulation out because of the forum word limit. However I did link to it.

@snowwy you are confusing the FMCSA mandated 10 year (JOB) history with the MVR. These 2 are not the same. However you are free to believe whatever you want. I posted the regulation. Anything over 3 years is up to the carrier. I am going to try this again. Most of the large carriers are self insured. They underwrite the liability and use an insurance company to maintain it. This is why for most carriers insurance is not part of it. I did not say insurance is not part of it 100%. I am saying that if they are it is above and beyond the required 3 years. The 3 years is the rule. It is also what most carriers I have made contact with have.

    No @Moose1958

I'm not confusing anything. I renewed my license last year and got 2 copies of my MVR.

Then I don't know what to say. I posted the regulation that covers this. The rule is 3 years of MVR history in the DQF. THAT is the rule. A carrier is free to exceed this. But the minimum is 3 years. I have linked to the reg as well as posting the text. If you continue to keep up this being longer you are arguing with the rule, not me. Im out of it! That is the answer to the OP, 3 years and the carrier can go over.

They can aee a lifetime mvr if they wanted. I've ran mvr's for my employees at my pizza shop. It only cost $10 and "lifetime" is an option.

Thank you all for your responses. They have been very helpful and my question has been answered. I will be doing some research to find a school to attend.
