I read in another post that of 10 new hires only about 2-3 make it through. Any thoughts on that rate?

They don't send you out with a trainer so you gotta be confident in what you can do and go out there and do it. You start worrying about percentages and failure rates and you might wanna go somewhere else. Nothing personal... just saying. I'm sure they have a good idea by the time the 10 days are up if you are ready or not. The thing is you have to be sure

Thanks. Not really worried. Just wanted to know if there was anything else other than driving and proper logs that they stick you about.

They dont stick you with anything, they expect you to be able to use that shiny new license you just got from the DMV. And while they make sure you can do that they also teach you a few different things and how the company wants you to do paperwork and such. Its really an easy process the actual hard work begins on your first run, where you either sink or swim. Most swim but every once in a while someone cant handle it.

Ken, I'm in Missoula now and there are 8 in the class I'm in, No one has left yet and we have 5 days t go, This weekend we had a logs assignment and I think we all have it dne, They checked our backing skills and I think they are keeping a running score of how we do what our attentin span is in class and everything we do, I think they try to get everyone thru, In the class just before me they had one that wrecked into 3 trucks here on the lot they sent that driver home, reason being.... NO SAFETY and then paniced when they were in a situation!. There is one guy in ur class that I am wondering abut but it is not my decision on it. If you learn what they teach you in class and are cxonfident with what you know, They give you EVERYONES phone numbers if there is an issue, Plus there are lots of us here that are willing to help as well, It is very much a family atmosphere rather then some of the cmpanies out there. I hope this helps. TD24:biggrin_255:

You are more right than you even know, TD....they always have their eye on you, even when it's a casual, "hey, lets go try to bump the dock out back". They don't miss much. Just pay attention to what they have to say, learn what they want you to, and probably most importantly, have confidence in your driving ability. Since you are out on your own from day 1, they have to know you are confident in your abilities.

The phone card they give you has every number you will ever need for someone usually outside of business hours. During the day, you can just call Missoula and ask to speak with someone, the open door/phone policy here is just great.

I'm glad to see you here and learning first hand what a great company this is to work for, and the family type envireoment that is fostered here.

If you'd like, when you finish orientation, PM me your truck number and/or a cell number and I'd be happy to give you mine as well so you can have one more person to call upon if ever needed.

    Stay safe out there....
