It should be a requirement if you start a blog that you have a laptop with internet connection so you dont disappear after orientation!
Day 9 until present. Well we finished off with some loaded and trip planning exercises. We were done by 1pm. 2 of the guys were sent to Ohio with drivers going through Missoula. A few guys went home, 3 I believe. 1 was headed to Helena today for a truck and the other was heading to Idaho Falls then to Kent Washington for his truck. Myself and 1 other guy came to Denver which is where I am. I arrived here yesterday. The guy heading to Denver drove us to Billings to meet a driver coming to Denver. I am typing this from inside my BIG RED truck. I got a 2005 Volvo with 599,070 miles on it. In OKAY shape has the headache rack for flat-bedders that will be coming off in the next few days. The guy was not the cleanest but from what I have heard not the dirtiest either. My truck has a pony pack no connectors for my Inverter luckily Jeff a 8 year veteran with Watkins was here and lent me his 300 watt inverter for the night. I will be starting a new thread tomorrow in the W/S DAC area, when I have access I will continue to post updates for a few weeks. Good Luck to everyone.
Yes, they require you to double clutch. In my 10 day, they sent someone home because he floated the gears well, but could not double clutch very well....
Yep....in school apparently the truck belonged to the teacher himself and he didn't want the students ruining the clutch, or so says the person, therefore he taught them to float..didn't do them any favors if you ask me... I got into an auto-shift directly out of my 10 day and last week was put into a new, err, different truck that has a 10 speed. I was terrified of the clutching as I had gotten used to not having to do it...it came right back to me and it was like I never stopped clutching and shifting...do it for a week and it's old hat, so nothing to worry about. I was worried about my knee, but so far, so good. We drive OTR, so we usually only have to gear up and down getting on and off the interstate, so my knee is holding up rather well...
